[obnox@samba.org: 3.6:idmap:Q2: get rid of (all/most) idmap alloc parameters for idmap_ldap ?]
Hi Samba Users,
I forgot to send this mail to the samba ML, too.
The question is whether anyone is using the idmap alloc
config options for idmap_ldap. I would like to remove
them for Samba 3.6. Details below.
Thanks - Michael

Problems with idmap_adex module
Hi Guys,
I'm having problems getting the new idmap_adex module to work.
When using the idmap_adex plugin I get the following:
# wbinfo -n administrator
S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX-500 User (1)
# wbinfo -i administrator
Could not get info for user administrator
As expected attempting to lookup user & group info via commands which use libnss also fail.

getent doesn't list my users when using idmap_adex
Hi,
I'm trying to integrate an existing linux environment with a Windows AD
environment. All my users are already in AD with valid rfc2307
attributes defined so I need a way to authenticate my users using
username, uid, gid, shell and homedirectory from AD. I've been using
Kerberos+LDAPs before but that requires a dummy AD user hardcoded with
username and password in /etc/ldap.conf

Does anybody use idmap_adex?
Hi,
Actually I am using the Backend Idmap_AD. I thought Idmap_adex is still under heavy development.

Problem with Samba-3.0.25rc3 & idmap_ldap (winbind dumps core)
In an effort to improve my lot, I'm trying to move to a ldap backend
for idmap synchronization when I deploy the new 3.0.25 version on my
systems. In preparation for this, I've set up some test systems --
where I'm having some problems that I think others may be
encountering (according to a few comments I've seen recently).
In a nutshell, I believe I have set up my ldap

Does anybody use idmap_adex?
Hi!
$SUBJECT says it all. Why am I asking? A few times in the
recent past I've stumbled across this module when trying to
make changes in the winbind infrastructure that would
involve changes to idmap_adex.
The problem here is that I have no chance to test those
changes, because I do not have the test setup including a
Likewise Cell infrastructure around.
Is anybody around using this module

idmap_nss needed together with idmap_ldap?
Hi!
In my samba controlled domain, most users are stored in an LDAP
directory. The Unix boxes use nss_ldap but they also have a few local
users (mostly system-users) whose user-ids are not synchronized.
I've read the documentation about idmap_nss but I'm still not sure if
this is needed for my setup.
Will using idmap_nss in addition to idmap_ldap result in any benefit
(e.g. when mapping

Trouble with idmap_ldap in 3.3.6
Hello everyone,
We've been running Samba for years, and with the exception of IDMAP,
we've been very happy. Well, now we have a real need to keep this
information in a shared DB, so I'm trying to set up the idmap_ldap plugin.
I *think* I have lookups working correctly-- at least, I can see that
Samba is contacting the LDAP directory. But since there's nothing

AD integration and idmap_adex not translating sid-to-uid domain trusts
Hi Guys,
I'm setting up a new file server in our domain environment and I'm having problems with the adex configuration/module. I have couple of working file servers using rfc2307/idmap_ad and they are working perfectly. What attracted me to the idmap_adex module is the domain trust/forrest authentication support. I have 2 domains not in the same forest with a 1-way trust setup. The

idmap LDAP branch never populates with Samba 3.4.1 - how do I debug ?
I've followed the instructions at
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix
which concerns how to setup idmap correctly with Samba > 3.0.25. I have
a trusted domain which has been successfully established. However, no
SID entries populate beneath ou=idmap and any logon to the trusted
domain will result in:

Samba4 questions (idmap, forest, inter-domain trust)
Hello everyone,
I am trying to go after learning Samba4 from two directions. Code and
implementing it. (If you know Samba4, please help me answer the
questions after the brief explanation.)
I have used the following scenario before, it is real and a way for me
to learn things:
My siblings and I are setting up some family services (over VPN, etc.).

Samba building is broken when some libraries are specified to be built-in to binaries !
Ok.
But to the time in a short term period is there is way to make building
successfull ?
May be some temporal solution ?
One more, I need to build-in to binaries:
libreplace,libwinbind-client,libwbclien, that is
replace,winbind-client,wbclient "targets" while building all regarding
configure options specified below:

Bug in Samba4? (idmap Domain Users
I am working with Samba 4. I think I have found a bug. It would only be
a problem in the event that Samba4 starts doing inter-domain, forest
level, and cross forest trusts.
Domain Users is 100 on a setup that is provisioned to have the range
3000000, 4000000. This maps the local gid for users. This seems to be a
bug to me.
Shouldn't Domain Users be within the range and not be the same as the
