Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
We also moved from Samba3/ldap to AD. On the servers we also only use Linux. We had no problem with the move. our mailserver is also cyrus with postfix and also SOGo. Everything works no problems at all. The migration needs to be planned carefully but it is worth the effort. You can still use lam with AD we also use it.

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
Christian
Thanks for the information.
Also thanks to mj.
That's sounds promising
How did you migrate your data?
Did you need to add any schema to samba4 ad?
Were in 5 cities and some of the Internet is not 100% reliable.
Will need samba4 in each office to make sure they can log in even if the
Internet is down.
How reliable is the the ad syncing?
Does it need a lot of bandwidth?

I'm trying to setup a samba4 with openchange which uses
postfix+dovecot+openldap on a ubuntu 12.04.2 system. I can send outgoing

We did the "classicupgrade" as discribed in the wiki.

No. But this depends of what you have in ldap now. Do you have dhcp-data
in there?

Delegate Samba4 user authentication to an external LDAP server
Hi Rowland
yes you got it right, I have a samba 4 installation and I'd like to
delegate the authentication to an external ldap server.
I have noticed that in samba 4 we do not have the attribute "password", so
my question is:
if I use Samba4+Openldap (as backend) and in OpenLdap I manually add the
attribute "password" to each user entry, and password as a link to SASL

Delegate Samba4 user authentication to an external LDAP server
thanks for your answer, I cannot do the reverse authentication
unfortunately. Everything has to work as I have described. Furthermore I
cannot change my external trust authority for authentication. From this
thread it looks like the only option is to use local password for the
Samba4 domain users, which add some complexity when managing IDs (and above
all passwords), as a single user might have

Did Microsoft release any useful information . . . ?
Hello,
I just read on an austrian news site ( http://futurezone.orf.at/hardcore/stories/289596/
) that Microsoft released documentation of some of their protocols.
On the site there are 4 links to Microsoft:

Problem compiling Samba 3.0.24 with OpenLDAP 2.3.35
I'm trying to install Samba with LDAP support but there are some errors
during the compilation.
I've used the same script a few weaks ago. The only differences are the
versions of Samba and OpenLDAP.
That's my error message:
checking for LDAP support... yes
checking ldap.h usability... yes
checking ldap.h presence... yes

Delegate Samba4 user authentication to an external LDAP server
Good Day All
first of all thank you for this mailing list, it's really great, as great
is Samba :D
I have a question regarding Samba4 and the possibility to delegate
authentication to an external LDAP server using Cyrus SASL.
Basically I have already successfully implemented an authentication
delegation from an OpenLdap server (on CentOs) to another LDAP server (on
AIX) via cyrus SASL.

Configuring Dovecot for use with Active Directory
Hello,
My server is configured as follows:
FreeBSD 6.1
OpenLDAP 2.3.27
Cyrus SASL 2.1.21
Dovecot 1.0.rc15
I have PostFix configured to use SASL for SMTP AUTH, which in turn leverages OpenLDAP to verify users in Active Directory. I do not have, nor want to in the future, local users in FreeBSD, so I've configured PostFix for Virtual Mailboxes.
Everything is working and I'm getting

samba 3.0.0-1 + OpenLDAP
Hi All,
after so much suffering I finally have my rh9 box working with
openldap-2.0.0.27-8 and samba-3.0.0-1. I still have some problems as
follow:
1 - Once I've joined a machine to the Domain I only can logon using root
user; if I try to logon as Administrator the system tells me that
username and/or password are not correct.
2 - If I try to use the parameter 'passdb backend =

Using userpassword attribute with sha1 in samba4
Hi everyone,
I have a php script that put all the people from a ldap(Openldap) base to
Samba4 so I need to use the same password.
I'm using userpassword in samba to store the passwords sha1 but I don't
understand what is happening. My user is not logging on the system.
Do I need to enable anything in samba4 ?
My script:
public function gerarSenhaPadraoTextoPlano($strSenha)

Setting individual SSL/TLS settings with OpenLDAP
I am using OpenLDAP to read Dovecot User settings and want to use TLS for
user_attrs and pass_attrs queries.
So I set "tls = yes" and it kept failing until I told the OpenLDAP ldap client
in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf where the CA certificate can be found.
So far so good. Now just in case... could I tell dovecot to read the OpenLDAP
client settings from a non default configuration file e.g.

Samba LDAP passthrough authentication to another openLDAP
Hi all,
I have a setup like this. Pls let me know if it's possible or not.
SAMBA + Local LDAP ---> SASLAUTHD --> Global LDAP
Desc:
I'd like to do Samba authentication to LDAP, passthrough to another
LDAP using SASL.
The current situation is:
SSH authentication from LDAP user to that Samba box works.
However, smb authentication doesn't work (yet).
This is what's shown in
