*update* SMB Trans2 Response STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND Problem
I need to establish a connection with a Windows host (Windows 7) via
smbclient (from ubuntu linux), to run a script which needs to get some file
informations (eg. size, version, etc..).
Connection and authentication works perfectly. From linux, i can execute the
following command:

problems with DFS
Hi,
We have been a samba shop since way back and have used DFS quit a lot the
last years.
When we went with security ads instead of domain our dfs died.
We have tried 3.028(sun) in solaris wich we are leaving and 3.2.1 in linux,
our migration target.
For our 3.2.1 installation the config looks liket this and the problem
manifests itself as a empty share.

Extremely slow during browsing some directories
hi,
I am quite new on using Samba and sorry maybe ask a silly question here. I
set up simple Samba server on Fedora3 using the samba rpm package comes with
fedora3( version 3.0.10-1.fc3). I use the SHARE security level to make
things easier. Everything goes fine so far, except that for some windows
user, some times, on browsing some directories, it takes extremely long time

On Monday (xmas day) samba was working fine. On Tuesday it wasn't. I
didn't change anything on either the Fedora Core 6 machine (relay) nor

I followed all the steps in "Procedure 38.1. Diagnosing Your Samba

How to read NTFS ADS (alternate data steams) using libsmbclient?
Hi Samba team,
We have a Windows SMB share which contains some files with ADS (alternate
data streams). In our client C/C++ code that runs on a Linux client, we
want to retrieve the list of ADS of a file and download all the streams,
similar to what is provided by smbclient's interactive session (allinfo,
get).
But as we evaluate libsmbclient (as we'd like to do above in code), we

Functions Accessing Databases
Hello,
I'm accessing a MySQL database from inside R and had a problem with a function. In the database, there is data from years 1985 to 2007 that I would like to retrieve. I can easily get the data from one year by the following:
info1985=dbGetQuery(con, statement='the SQL query')
Inside the statement, I have a column that is set to the desired year (e.g. table.column=1985) through

libsmbclient question
Dear Gents,
We are using libsmbclient smbc_getFunctionRead to read from a Microsoft DFS
share. Before each 64k read there are a QUERY_PATH_INFO and a
GET_DFS_REFERRAL which slow down the transmission. Is there a way to query
these only once at the beginning of the transmission and cache it?

Long Delays Displaying Small Folders in Windows Explorer (samba-3.0.10-1 FC2)
Hi,
I'm trying to replace a windows fileserver server with a Fedora Core 2
samba server in our Windows 2000 ADS domain.
A performance problem occurs when accessing certain samba shares from
Windows Explorer on either an Windows XP or a W2K client machine. It
can take up to a minute for explorer to list files in a share folder
containing only a few files! It eventually does, but but reports

wine-20011004 Problems
I'm having major problems with the 10/4 Wine release. Currently the only
thing I really use Wine for is Eudora Light 3.0.5. The most stable
release for me thus far has been wine-20010112, which is what I'm using
right now. Most of the releases since then have had window problems with
Eudora-- messages having too much blank space, strange things.
So I tried 1004, and it has a new

Mates,
I have been watching a developing problem over the past few weeks. Most
likely a M$ patch to XP that has caused problems. What happens is that XP
clients try to open the standard "File" -> "Open" dialog (like in word, or
whatever) and the file open dialog hangs and stops responding for 15 seconds
or so. I have

Programs under wine can't connect to the network
Hey all
Have a very strange problem in slack 8, using wine 20011004. First noticed this with counterstrike, than checked with other programs that should access the net.
I get this error, and programs fail:
fixme:winsock:_get_sock_fd handle 304 is not a socket (GLE 6)
Documentation seems to imply that if I can get on the net with linux, I should be able to use wine with it. Weirdest part is

: Win XP Client does not remove directories
Hello mailinglist,
I have a strange problem, which occurs sometimes on some WinXP clients.
It is not 100% reproducable for me, but it returns regular.
The problem is, that somehow a user can't delete a directory. All files
in the directory will be removed successfully, but the directory itself
not.
Deleting with the Explorer or over the cmd-console returns in the same
result.
First the
