BUILTIN-Groups break winbind_idmap
Hello, i want to migrate from samba 3.2.6-37 (sernet-built on sles9) to 3.3.12-25 (sernet-built on debian lenny). It's a domain member server in an w2k3 ad with all company files on it. I migrated the smb.conf and moved the winbindd_idmap.tdb to the lenny server. The winbind idmap options are still the same with tdb as idmap backend and don't conflict with entries of /etc/group and

Hi, I have partially got Samba on Fedora Core 1 talking to AD on 2k3. I've been following Samba 3 by example, (which is excellent btw - http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/) I can access my shares by "administrator", I guess becuase it's a built in account. I have other groups on the AD server, and I also have users :-) Does anyone know where I may have mucked

eaton evolution not shutting down
Hi all, I just changed my old MGE ellipse for a evolution 850 (now eaton). I can connect using mge-shut (newmge-shut doesn't work). But I have a few issues. I lloked around on NUT web-site and googled with no luck. Using debian lenny on 2.6.18 kernel (due to some ISDN driver that doesn't work with earlier kernels) 1) the most annoying is that I cannot shutdown the UPS. here is a trace :

BUILTIN not mapping on DC
Running 4.1.6-SerNet-RedHat-7.el6 on CentOS 6.5. I've been bumping my head against GPO issues and am now wondering if its connected to my BUILTIN groups not mapping on my DC. For instance on DC: sh-4.1# wbinfo --gid-info=544 failed to call wbcGetgrgid: WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND Could not get info for gid 544 But on a member: sh-4.1# wbinfo --gid-info=544 BUILTIN\administrators:x:544:

LDAP backend and sambaGroupType for builtin groups
Hi, I have a question about sambaGroupType attribute on a Samba 3.2 PDC with LDAP backend (and nss_ldap + nss_winbind). What should be the value for Administrators builtin group ? If i use smbldap-populate from smbldap-tools, the value of sambaGroupType is 5 (and the LDAP entry for this group is a posixGroup and a sambaGroupMapping). I've also noticed that "wbinfo -g" doesn't

unexpected groups 2000(BUILTIN\administrators) 2001(BUILTIN\users)?
More interesting on some machines I upgraded to 16.04 the difference isn't there between the 2 ways of running id but those 2 groups are listed in each. wbinfo works fine, getent only works for builtin groups

I think I know then. Are those groups from a local samba database? I might have deleted it in the past and when the upgrade took place it may have replaced it.
