Hello,
I've followed two or three articles on how to configure samba 4 as a
member server. One of these articles is from the samba wiki:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server
The server joins, but it cannot authenticate users. I don't care about
nss, winbind, etc. unless it is REALLY necessary. All I want is to use
this server as a file server for workstations

Apologies if this comes through twice; I sent it yesterday from the wrong
address and I don't think it went through.

Intermittent failure
Hello.
I'm in need of some help to shed some light on a strange problem.
The box is running Samba 4.1.7 on FreeBSD 9.2/amd64 and I suspect
(though I'm not sure) all troubles started after the upgrade from 4.1.6.
The setup is quite simple: no AD, no LDAP, only one server.
A command as simple as "smbclient -U user //SERVER/SHARE", if fired up
several times in a row on the

Nope. Do I need to?
For now I only want to authenticate Windows boxes. *nix boxes later.
Thanks.

smbclient with Kerberos works, smbclient with NTLM does not?
Hello,
I am investigating some strange authentication problems with our network. I
am attempting to access a share on a DC with smbclient. If I authenticate
with kerberos (kinit, then smbclient -k) then everything works fine. If,
instead I use -U administrator -W DOMAIN, or just -U administrator, I get
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
This is samba 3.3.2.
Here is the d5 output

cannot mount share from netapp device
I have been trying to access a personal share being hosted by my
schools netapp server and have been unable to do so using both version
3.04 and version 3.06 of samba. I have read the mailing list archives
and found one set of posts related to the problem however there was no
solution posted, so I am asking if anyone knows how to solve this
problem. The previos posts that I am talking about are

No Printer Connection, Samba sharing cups printer
Hello!
I'm using samba to share printers from a cups service. In the windows
explorer both printers, a network tcp/ip printer connected using a jet
direct box and a pdf printer added by the package cups-pdf, are visible and
both can be used from the cups web interface and work.
When trying to use each from the windows explorer:
The pdf printer can be printed to just fine.

Urgent Problem with failed new User Login to computers on Samba AD Domain
Hi!
I am using a very, very old Samba 4 AD server (Samba 4.0.0alpha14
(randomdata)) on a CentOS release 5.10 (Final) 64 bit server.
I have not upgraded to the latest yet because I am not very certain
what to do to upgrade it without losing my domain objects, and custom
scripts. It has been working OK so far until today.
(Any tips on how to upgrade without losing everything on it would be

programming libsmbclient
hi all,
I have a strange problem using the libsmbclient api..
retrieving or stating files named with percents in is for some
of them impossible. Example: a file located at "smb://test/test/%7C2.txt" cannot be retrieved
with my code, smbc_open fails with the code NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_INVALID.
I am not sure but, url encoding/decoding that would escape strings with "percent"

Failed to join domain: failed to connect to AD: No logon servers
I am using Samba v4.0.16.
Join to the domain controller with two NIC's, it will fail once every
two times.
Response from the DNS, will succeed in domain join in the case of
reachable IP addresses.
However, it seems to fail to join domain in the case of unreachable IP
addresses.
( V3.5.15 succeed in both cases. )
Please help someone.

Samba 3.4.9 net rpc shutdown and XP Domain client
Hi @all,
this is an very old problem, posted the first time 2005 to
samba-testers at samba.org:
If I have a Domain client with WinXP, which is part of a domain and
using this client, if the PDC is not available and want to remote shut
down this client with the net tool from other servers, then this is not
possible, because net tries to authenticate against the PDC:

Trouble Joining Windows 2008R2 Domain with Error 'failed to lookup DC info for domain 'FULLY.QUALIFIED.DOMAIN' over rpc: Access denied'
All,
I've been trying to troubleshoot a difficult-to-pin-down domain join issue,
where a fully-updated CentOS 6 host cannot join a domain hosted by a
fully-patched Windows 2008 R2 domain controller.
I am running CentOS 6's samba build version 3.6.9-167.el6_5.
I have checked all of the usual suspects (time, kerberos, DNS lookup), and
all seem well:
