x86_64 - Dom0 will not boot on EMT64
I am unable to boot Dom0 on my IBM eServer BladeCenter HS20, type 8843, EMT64 blades. I have read reports that Dom0 boots on Opteron boxes, but on my EMT64 blades, it does not. Has anyone else encountered this problem on EMT64 hardware? Here are the errors I am getting: This is on a SLES 9 box, gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux): kernel (hd0,0)/boot/xen.gz dom0_mem=256000 com2=19200,8n1

Samba crashes & floods logfiles: "smbd/notify_inotify.c:244(inotify_handler) - No data on inotify fd?!"
Dear Group members! Since I have set up a Samba PDC-Server (openSUSE 11.2-64bit with default package Samba 3.4.3) approx. 8 months ago, I have encountered 3 or 4 times a severe crash of Samba. What happens is that all over a sudden Samba floods /var/log/messages and /var/log/warn with the following message (cropped out date/time/servername, etc.): smbd[19724]:

Unreliable connection to Samba PDC - Connections get lost, Roaming Profiles do not sync, Files can't be written, etc..
Hello all! I am having severe problems with my Samba PDC. 1. My Roaming profile in 3 out of 10 times does not get synchronized correctly with the server - without any obvious reason. This sometimes destroys my profile by losing data and commonly from then on the profile is never again synchronized correctly. A backup restore of the computer is necessary. 2. When I edit a document (e.g. word

how to check as CRAN with alternative BLAS?
One of my packages is slated to be archived from CRAN due to failures when the ATLAS BLAS is used. I am unable to replicate the error on my machine under R 3.6.1 using the atlas library from ubuntu (seems to be 3.10.2-9, while the good professor is using 3.10.3 per https://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/Rblas/README.txt ). I also tried the rocker/r-base with R 3.6.2 and

Forum vs Mailing lists - by the numbers
So, if we look at January, the last month without the forum: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2008-January/thread.html we had 226 posts. If we look at March, the first full month with the forum: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2008-March/thread.html we had 2136 posts. Even if you say that 1,000 of those posts were meta posts with complaints from us Mailman lovers,

Problem with R using pgi compiler on x86_64
Hi, we have installed R-2.8.1 using the current pgi compiler (8.0.2) for AMD64 on a SLES9 system. Forums, Lists and Spam
Even with forums spam can happen. The most likely cause of spam is people putting there email address in the body of the message either telling someone to email them or in a signature line. As for spamming the icecast mailing list users, if you goto http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/ you will see the archives for the list and the software they use edits email addresses so they can't be

Non-meritocratic t.&a. projects will be damned. Re: I am leaving llvm
What unmitigated bullshit. Your attempt at logic is laughable. You hold up threadbare stereotypes as the norm, when in reality they are little more than characters straight out of Central Casting. The "genius hermit who can't associate with people" is dumb and false. It's meant to excuse behavior that is unacceptable, when in reality a person who cannot interact with people is

An internet Forum instead of mailing lists?
Hi David, That’s interesting, because I have a totally different experience. On a forum, every topic gets its own thread, and replies are always there in order for future reference. Topic categories can be defined which encourage subject classification. Advanced searching helps to find already answered questions, prevent duplicates, and enable the continuation of discussions even years later.

MFC ZFS: when?
In several of the recent ZFS posts, multiple people have asked when this will be MFC'd to 7.x. This query has been studiously ignored as other chatter about whatever ZFS issue is discussed. So in a post with no other bug report or discussion content to distract us, when is it intended that ZFS be MFC'd to 7.x?

Forum Software Update and mailing list gateway
Hi folks, the volunteer admins for forum.winehq.org have been deleting an increasing amount of spam lately, and it seems clear that we need to update the forum software to a new release with better antispam features. The catch is, the mailing list gateway plugin is not compatible with the new version of the forum. It looks like the users are split about 90% on the forum and about 10% on the

Mailing list <-> forum gateway
Hi all, First off - this is not flame bait or a troll. It's a genuine question. Since the forum gateway was introduced, it is my opinion that this list is getting flooded with newbie questions. Check the "I just installed Ubuntu" thread for a typical example. I wish to silently remove all wine-forum posts and their replies from my inbox. I plan to filter based on From:

cameraa rotation graphics
Dear all, Is there a camera rotation for 3d graphics in R. I have seen it in a conference one time and thought it is pretty neat. the presenter was able to rotate the 3d graph with dragging the mouse up down left right. If not in R is there something that is open source that does this. Thank you Jean Eid

New Forum
How do people feel about eliminating the list serv in favor of the forum? Or limiting the list serv to news? I have one vendor I work with that has a knowledgebase, a forum, and two mailing lists - with much overlap of topics. It is truly enough to drive you totally crazy. I'm not suggesting anything. Just bringing it up. Geoff
