Windows 7 Home to Ubuntu 10.4 Samba 3.4.7 Access denied
I have spent many hours researching and trying many different things,
starting with this: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7. However,
I still cannot get Windows 7 Home Premium to connect to a Samba share
using user-based security. XP works fine. I keep getting access denied.
Just this evening, I finally tried share level security, and both XP
and 7 can connect to that, so I'm

[LLVMdev] llvm fails on MinGW-32 (Windows) because Python is not supported there
This page says that llvm works on MinGW:
http://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html
I tried to build llvm trunk. llvm build now requires Python:
llvm[2]: Creating 'llvm-lit' script...
/bin/sh: python: command not found
And current stable python version (3.2) doesn't even build on MinGW (see
http://bugs.python.org/issue9098).
What is the solution on MinGW? Maybe Python was introduced

Windows architecture fact
We recently fixed the hardwaremodel and architecture facts on Windows
as they were always returning i386[1]. The change will be in the
upcoming 1.6.10 release of Facter[2]. The new behavior is that
hardwaremodel will return something like i686, ia64, x64, etc, while
the architecture fact will return either x86 or x64.
Since the new behavior will likely affect puppet users that are trying

Pxelinux - gpxe problem.
Hey,
It is some real awesome work you are doing. Thanks.
I have been trying to use gpxe - pxelinux to boot Linux from a remote
location.
It works with pxelinux 2.02 and lower. However pxelinux 2.03 and higher
return errors and booting is incomplete. Why?
syslinux-3.00 gives the following dump and hence the system does not boot.
Loading Linux...........................................Ready.

Dir ec* returns dir name starting with letters EA... come again!?
I take it that this is a bug, maybe related to the fun of Samba and XFS getting along I do not know. And I am back level on Samba awaiting the new .deb's. Anyway, with that disclamer...

extracting components of a list
Hi
how do I extract those components of a list that satisfy a certain
requirement? If
jj <- list(list(a=1,b=4:7),list(a=5,b=3:6),list(a=10,b=4:5))
I want just the components of jj that have b[1] ==4 which in this case
would be the first and
third of jj, viz list (jj[[1]],jj[[3]]).
How to do this efficiently?
My only idea was to loop through jj, and set unwanted components to
NULL,

Getting Groupwise to run setup.exe
Hello I'm having trouble trying to run setup.exe from either the 32bit or
16bit versions of Groupwise. I copied the win32 version of ncftp.exe and
was able to get it to load up ok. I didn't have sol.exe to play with.
Here's the details.

my Geforce 6200 TM and - like all versions I tried before - it locks up
my computer that a hard reset is needed. :-(
On Screen is only a some pixel wide vertical stripe

GeForce 6100 (NV4E) & nouveau regression in 3.12
Hi guys,
Last week I've switched from my old & good 3.4.63 to 3.14-rc1 and
noticed nasty display corruptions when using nouveau. It seems that
changing parts of the screen are appearing for a fraction of second in
random places. I've recorded this behavior:
