Samba Variables and TCP/IP Throughput
Hi, I am trying to optimize my gigabit network. I have two Intel 1000 MT Gigabit Server Adapters, which support Jumbo Frames -- as well as a Switch that supports Jumbo Frames. However, I am observing some strange behavior in my file transfers from Windows XP to Linux and I am wondering if it has anything to do with the way the Samba variables are set on my Linux box? The "strange

SIP transfer/REFER to voicemail problem
I've google for hours trying to find a discussion of a similar problem as the one I'm having, so forgive me if this has come up before. If it has, please point me in the right direction! The problem occurs when a caller (A) is transferred by an intermediary party (B) to voicemail (Voicemail or VoicemailMain), either directly or by being taken to voicemail when the callee (C) doesn't

making R print on screen
Hello! I am running a "for" loop. In the loop I am producing some intermediary results and asking R to print it (of the type below). However, I noticed - when the task is complicated and takes a lot of time, R does not print those intermediary results immediately, but prints them in batches - or does not print at all until we are done with the whole calculation. Is there any way to

Large sites
Hi, I am looking networking together about 1000-2000 sites across the country. I've been looking through these mailing lists. Saw the thread from the person who had 1000+ running on Amazon, and how they essentially stripped all security out of it. Also know that the ChaosVPN uses tinc, for at least 130+ sites although I'm a bit fuzzy on the details for it. Are there any other cases of

Run rsync through intermediary server with SSH
I'm using rsync, ssh, and cron glued together with Python as a push-based synchronization system. From a single location, I push content out to various offices. I log stdout/stderr on the master server to make sure everything is running smoothly. I would now like for some of our "regional hubs" to take on some of the load (bandwidth-wise), while still retaining my centralized

Simple OCSP server ??
Hello list, I'm contemplating running my own CA to implement the new proposed ISP for validation of S/MIME certificates via DANE. I already use self-signed for my MX servers (with 3 1 1 dane records on TCP port 25) but I don't want to use self-signed for S/MIME for user specific x.509 certs because A) That's potentially a lot of DNS records B) That requires a hash of the e-mail

hosts fail to negotiate 1000Mbps speed
I am trying to connect two workstations (CentOS 3&4) directly using a straight through cat 5e cable with a crossover adapter on one of the ends. Both hosts have gigabit-capable ethernet card. According to lspci host 1 has: 03:0e.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82545EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Copper) (rev 01) and host 2 has: 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group

One way audio - doesn't seem to be NAT issue
I have been banging my head against the wall for weeks now on this one. I have a switch running NetBSD and Asterisk 11.19.0 although I have had this problem on older versions as well. I, and my users, can call out, we can receive calls, quality is excellent but I cannot talk with one user. The different elements are as follows: The switch as described above which is in a server room on the

DRBD very slow....
Hello all, we have a new setup with xen on centos5.3 I run drbd from lvm volumes to mirror data between the two servers. both servers are 1U nec rack mounts with 8GB RAM, 2x mirrored 1TB seagate satas. The one is a dual core xeon, and the other a quad-core xeon. I have a gigabit crossover link between the two with an MTU of 9000 on each end. I currently have 6 drbds mirroring across that

[nbdkit PATCH] tests: Swap nbdkit process order in test-nbd-tls-psk.sh
We're still seeing sporadic failures of 'nbdkit nbd tls=', and I'm still trying to come up with a root cause fix (it may involve smarter use of gnutls_bye() in libnbd). In the meantime, here's what we know: when the hang/failure happens, the 'nbdkit nbd tls=' client process is stuck in a poll() waiting to see EOF from the server, while the 'nbdkit example1'

Problem SAVING and LOADING documents in Crossoffice Wine Word97
Dear friends: I am using PCLINUXOS version .92. My problem, simply put, is that I cannot SAVE or LOAD documents in MSWord97 using the older Codeweavers Crossover Office Wine 1.3.5. Thinking the problem might be resolved in the latest Crossover Office 5, I downloaded the Tryout version but the same problem occurs (i.e. at least for me) in this latest version. In fact, it wouldn't even

How to RSYNC from eth1 on PDC-SRV to eth1 on BDC-SRV?
I currently have my /home directory kept in sync between my primary and backup domain controllers by using rsync --archive --checksum --update --delete pdc-srv:/home/ bdc-srv:/home/. I noticed that when this command is invoked, it tends to suck up the available bandwith to eth0 during the duration that the pdc is sending a large amount of data packets to the bdc. So what I would like to do

Samba and Multiple NICs
Hi, I'm a happy Samba user. I've been working sucessfully in Linux for the past 6 months. I've built a Linux Server with very fast storage and I'm connecting it to many Windows XP "video editing workstations" via Gigabit Ethernet (all NICs using Jumbo Frames, by the way). Now I want to see if I can increase my data flow in and out of the Server so that more
