Guest access broken for Win7 between 3.3.8 and 3.5.4?
I've been running samba on RHEL5 for the past couple of years with XP clients. Late last year, in order to support new Win7 clients, I upgraded from samba-3.0.33 packages to samba3x-3.3.8 (from the Red Hat-managed configuration tree) and after some struggles got everything working. But now after upgrading to samba3x-3.5.4 I am only able to connect as a known user and not as a guest. Relevant

Samba3x daily logged errors with Win7 clients
In the course of upgrading from CentOS 5.4 to CentOS 5.5 I changed from using the samba (v3.0.x) packages to the samba3x (v3.3.8) packages, mostly because the newer version was said to better support Win7. The Samba server services Linux, WinXP, and Win7 clients. Now I get many, many errors logged to the Samba logs shortly after 3:00 AM, but only from the Win7 clients. I get roughly 430

Does anyone run win7 or winxp with xl toolstack?
Hello, everybody! Does anyone have experience of running win7/winxp with xl? As for me, I got HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED BSOD on win7 booting and guest hanging in case of winxp. When i run these guests (with the same configs) with xm, everything is ok. The guests boot perfectly. Did anyone run into it too? I use the lattest xen-unstable, but i saw the problem several months ago too. My

Issue getting Gnome display manager on Centos 6 to Xming on Win7
Greetings - My objective is to get a full Gnome GUI console display to show in an Xming window on my Win7 box. I do a similar thing with my Raspberry Pi so that it operates headless with just the power and network cord attached. My CentOS 6 box and the Win7 box are on the same network within my office LAN behind a good firewall. For various reasons that I won't go into I am unable to

[Fwd: snowfall on Win7]
Dear Ola, I cannot say anything about Windows 7, as we do not have any Win7 machines here in our institute and I even do not know someone who have Win7 on a private machine. I will try to find a machine with this OS and test it. Anybody having experiences with Win7 yet? Samba, Win7 login failure
I have an XP box that is hosting our MRP server software with the databases on a Centos 5 machine via samba. I was running all my apps on it as well. I decided to dedicate that machine to the server software and got a Win7 machine for my apps, databases still on the centos box. I changed the name of the XP machine to "server", it still logs into samba with my credentials. The Win7

Using XEN 4.1 to run Windows 7 DOMU on SERVER1, replicated the HVM to SERVER2 using DRBD. Win7 DOMU doesn't boot in SERVER2 after replication
Hi All, I'm new to XEN and using XEN 4.1 on UBUNTU to run Win7 guest. I've 2 Servers(both UBUNTU 12), where Server1 is configured with full Win7 guest installation on a partition(It works fine). Now as i use DRBD to replicate this partition into Server2 system and try to boot the Win7 DOMU from harddisk, I get below mentioned error - Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or

deploy policies for win7 ?
hello, I skipped Vista and was using WinXP on all clients until now. I deployed my policies using a file ntconfig.pol in the [netlogon]-share, but this does not work with win7 any more. How do you deploy your policies with Vista or Win7 ? I use recent samba 3.4.6 and hope there is some way. Every experience welcome. I think thousands of readers here might have similar problems somehow :) Even

new Win7 security setting broke Samba
Good day all! I administer two Samba servers (RHEL 4.5) which, up to recently, had been working well. Our security officials changed the LAN Manager group policy for the new Win7 systems from 'Send NTLMv2 response only; Refuse LM' to 'Send NTLMv2 response only; Refuse LM & NTLM'. We were running samba 3.0.33. I have upgraded to 3.6.8-44. I have tried a variety of

RODBC Access/Excel driver location for 64 bit Win7
Apologies, but after a fair amount of digging, I still only have a foggy understanding of the cause of this problem, due to my own ignorance. I hope to use RODBC package to connect to an Access DB when running 64 bit Win7 (R version 2.11.1, 64 bit). I have successfully done this before on a winXP machine. Currently I am unable to establish a connection using odbcConnect("") (I am

Win7 blue screen when accessing a previous version of a share
Hi, I have Samba server ver 3.2.15, and a share set up with previous versions (the shadow_copy2 vfs module). The server has been patched to support previous versions in Win7 - a bug that's been fixed in more recent versions of Samba. Using a specific file set and Win7 Explorer, I right-click on the share, select "Restore previous versions", double click on on a previous version and

Will over-allocation of vCPUs be counterproductive to VM Win7 Ultimate?
Hi all, Will over-allocation of vCPUs be counterproductive to VM Win7 Ultimate? I allocated 32 (out of 64 physical cores in 8 NUMA cells, and 128G out of 2T physical RAM) to the VM. But the boot process was extremly slow, actually the desktop screen never showed up then the VM just reboot automatically. So is there anything I can do to solve this problem or the truth is Win7 by design just cannot
