ARGH... once again samba causes "permission" errors. SOLVED
Ok, I was able to fix both of my problems and they are both related to SELinux problems First: I am assuming that you are like me and that you have an excellent background in systems administration (I teach it at a university for a living.) So you've configured chmod permissions and chown user and group ownerships on directories and files to correctly allow the desired access. You have

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] Release: Two Weeks 'Til 3.0 Branch
> If we had a larger set of volunteers that could help qualify releases AND buildbots to continuously test the new release criteria, then we are willing to expand this criteria. We haven't had a lot of volunteers step up in this area though. I don't much like the idea of doing a release with so many buildbots down... Ciao, Duncan.

Xen watchdog patch disposition?
Jeremy, while originally I had hoped this patch, sitting in xen/next, would get pushed for .37, that didn''t happen and now the .38 merge window was missed too. Trying to get this to Linux on my own seems inappropriate, so can I hope that you will include this with whatever other changes you intend to push for .39? Thanks, Jan _______________________________________________ Xen-devel

ARGH!! why does my samba server lose domain master elections??
Subject pretty much says it all. (And *please* don't point me BROWSING.txt since I've been there done that and it still doesn't work) First let me vent... What a shit microsoft is for doing the following... creating a browsing protocol where the WINS server is dynamically elected from a possibly infinite set of machines; yet you need to hard code a static address in the

ocfs2 - disk usage inconsistencies
Hi all. I have a 50 GB OCFS2 file system. I'm currently using ~26GB of space but df is reporting 43 GB used. Any ideas how to find out where the missing 17GB is at? The file system was formatted with a 16K cluster & 4K block size. Thanks, Matt -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

rsync stoped syncing
Hi, I want to keep the home-Directorys of 2 machines in sync. Therefor I start rsync every hour with cron. In the Beginning all worked fine, but now ... I searched, but can't see the problem. The home-directorys on the "master" change very often, but the changes are no longer replicated to the "slave". Both run Linux and rsync 2.5.5. The master calls (the long line may be

vfs_shadow_copy2 with snapprefix & delimiter options
Hello all, I already successfully configured shadow copy service without a delimiter and regex. But as soon as I try to get this to work with regex, nothing shows up on the win client. My config looks like this: [global] shadow: localtime = yes shadow: sort = desc shadow: format = _%FT%T shadow: delimiter = _ shadow: snapprefix = ^\(monthly\)\{0,1\}\(weekly\)\{0,1\}\(daily\)\{0,1\}$

mounting win2003 server shares fails
I emailed about this before but didn't get any response. I am desperate. I can mount the share of any computer in the domain. XP (even with sp2), 2000, etc... everything works no problem. When I try to mount a share on a win2003 server, the command completes successfully, but when I try to view the folder, it is not showing. I have tried several variations of commands: mount -t smbfs -o

Exorbitant cost to achieve redundancy??
I'm trying to justify a GlusterFS storage system for my technology development group and I want to get some clarification on something that I can't seem to figure out architecture wise... My storage system will be rather large. Significant fraction of a petabyte and will require scaling in size for at least one decade. from what I understand GlusterFS achieves redundancy through

OS X Clients Can't Create Sub-Directories
I'm running samba on a local linux server, with a bunch of shares. Over the last several years, this has worked perfectly in our heterogenous network of OS X and Windows. All my windows clients still work perfectly - my users can mount the samba shares and create, rename, move etc files and folders. However, recently (starting yesterday) my OS X clients are unable to rename any sub

Quota problems with Gluster3.3b2
Hi everyone, I'm playing with Gluster3.3b2, and everything is working fine when uploading stuff through swift. However, when I enable quotas on Gluster, I randomly get permission errors. Sometimes I can upload files, most times I can't. I'm mounting the partitions with the acl flag, I've tried wiping out everything and starting from scratch, same result. As soon as I
