file statistics collection using stat(2) data obtained by rsync
Hi,
I'm using rsync + hard-link copy as a backup mechanism (happily :-) and wish now to collect file usage statistics per user per rsync operation. rsync must preform a stat(2) or eqiuvalent on each file to determine if it needs to access the file content for synchronisation, and I would like to 'piggy back' my statistics on the stat(2) details that rsync has collected (and thus

Samba4 FreBSD
Having some issues with:
samba_dnsupdate
Specifically:
/usr/bin/nsupdate: cannot specify -g or -o, program not linked with
GSS API Library
I've looked through the script, and cannot find these options called.
If anyone can point me to where they're called I'd appreciate it.

Samba 4 and nsswitch
Having some difficulties determining which way to go here.
Have an Ubuntu 10.2 server running S4Alpha11. The samba stuff is
working well enough (though with a bit too much idle CPU
consumption--haven't go there yet).
However, I can't get proper responses for file system and user/group
lookup.
With AD in Samba 3 nsswitch.conf was
passwd: files winbind

Regarding S4 and libnss_winbind.so
Apparently this didn't/doesn't build on FreeBSD by default...or is it
"doesn't build at all".
If it is buildable, what should I do to build it, as without it...see
wiki:

Samba4-alpha11
Just thought I'd say that samba4 is working quite nicely. Samba4 DC
on Ubuntu server. Added a W2k3R2 and W2k8R2 server as DC's. Took a
little bit of play to get it done, but not much.
The only thing I've noticed so far (still in early lab stage) is a GC
issue.
Now if I can upgrade a Samba3-LDAP domain....

samba 4.0.6 getent group
Hello all listies.
I've got samba4.0.6 running on FreeBSD 9.1.
Joined W2K12 domain as member server.
running getent group I noticed it takes a long time to resolve groups.
The result is correct, but it is inordinately long.
With 3.6.13 on FreeBSD 9.1 the return is nearly instantaneous.
smb4.conf looks like this.
[global]
workgroup = TMS3
security = ADS
realm = TMS3.COM

Need Help Getting Windows XP To Use Samba Properly[Closed]
Unfortunately we're not able to install more software of radically change any configurations. We also do not use LDAP (just a workgroup, hosts file, static IPs and Samba). But those are good ideas, I'll keep them in mind just in case. Major thanks.

FW: Need Help Getting Windows XP To Use Samba Properly
Takahashi, thanks for your response.
No antivirus software is installed, firewall disabled completely.
I might have to go the sniffer route. But this is XP and Samba, both old products. I can't imagine that I'd be the first one to have such a ridiculous problem trying to get XP to be able to browse a Samba box. This is fresh WinXP right out of the box (with SP3) having this problem,

Linux does not care. Only Windows cares.

The posix name of the server does not matter. Nor does the DNS name
as it can have more than one DNS name. You need to work with Samba as
a somewhat separate entity. It is simply easier to match

Samba 4 Orphaned DC
Is there a list of commands for cleaning up orphaned DC's. I used
ntdsutil on the Windows boxes no problem. Used an LDAP gui tool to
remove the LDAP entries. Sadly Samba4 is still trying to contact the
orphan. Any guidance or manual page would be appreciated.

termplot has problems with a single term (fix included) (PR#6675)
The bug exists on R-1.9.0-alpha compiled the 10/3.
Termplot has a problem if either the model only contains a single term
or if asked to plot a single term. In addition there are problems with
the option se = TRUE.
Analysis: termplot starts with
terms <- if (is.null(terms))
predict(model, type = "terms", se = se)
else predict(model, type = "terms", se = se,

help with correct use of function lsfit
To the purpose of fitting a 2nd order polynomial (a + b*x + c*x^2) to the chunk of signal falling in a 17 consecutive samples window
I wrote the following very crude script. Since I have no previous experience of using Least Square Fit with R I would appreciate
your supervision and suggestion.
I guess the returned coefficients of the oolynomial are:
a = -1.3191398
b = 0.1233055
c = 0.9297401
