Having some difficulties determining which way to go here. Have an Ubuntu 10.2 server running S4Alpha11. The samba stuff is working well enough (though with a bit too much idle CPU consumption--haven't go there yet). However, I can't get proper responses for file system and user/group lookup. Just thought I'd say that samba4 is working quite nicely. Samba4 DC on Ubuntu server. Added a W2k3R2 and W2k8R2 server as DC's. Took a little bit of play to get it done, but not much. The only thing I've noticed so far (still in early lab stage) is a GC issue. Now if I can upgrade a Samba3-LDAP domain.... Cheers, TMS III

Hello all listies. I've got samba4.0.6 running on FreeBSD 9.1. Joined W2K12 domain as member server. running getent group I noticed it takes a long time to resolve groups. The result is correct, but it is inordinately long. With 3.6.13 on FreeBSD 9.1 the return is nearly instantaneous. smb4.conf looks like this. Unfortunately we're not able to install more software of radically change any configurations. We also do not use LDAP (just a workgroup, hosts file, static IPs and Samba). Is there a list of commands for cleaning up orphaned DC's. I used ntdsutil on the Windows boxes no problem. Used an LDAP gui tool to remove the LDAP entries. Sadly Samba4 is still trying to contact the orphan. Any guidance or manual page would be appreciated. Cheers, TMS III
