Cannot edit GPO's anymore via RSAT
Hello all,
I have recently discovered that my user cannot edit GPO's anymore. Every
GPO I try to open, gets me the famous window "*The permissions for this GPO
in the SYSVOL folder are inconsistent with those in Active Directory" * and
then I get another window saying "Access is denied".
I believe that this happened when I upgraded to 4.1.7 from 4.1.3, about 3

This is a situation that is meant to work, but is not actively tested
(all our tests are pure Samba), but seems to work for some folks.
However given the way Windows

Share Printer via GPO per User
Im at the point of going home, but a quick reply..
Create groups, a group per printer.
Then in GPO preferences,/ settings control pannel, printers.
Here you can set things as, if user is member of group, deploy printer.
As said, short mail but what your looking for it possible.
Have a look there, and see if you can get it working.

You can do this multiple ways. These are some good basics to read

Share Printer via GPO per User
Hello,
Share the printer via "Print Management -> Deploy with GPO" it works,
but then the Printer is default on all users which is not an option.
So I try to share it per User, but this does not work, the printer is
not added after login.
My GPO look like:

Unable to create GPO "Allow log on locally"
Well, I've set up a completely new test AD Domain with Samba 4.4.5 and
one Windows 10 Client running RSAT tools in an isolated VM net.
Creating a new empty GPO using RSAT tools
Computer Configuration->
Policies->
Windows Settings->
Security Settings->
Local Policies->
User Rights Assignment->
Allow Logon Locally"
does not work.

Windows ACL clarification for Roaming Profiles share
Hello Marc,
First of all.
https://abhijitw.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/the-local-system-account/
is really outdated.
The Explanation is simply incomplete.
Yes, localy there is SYSTEM. But due to some i think sid/rid whatever wrong mapping its not working correctly in samba when you use GPO settings also.
Per example. And its the last time im telling it.
I beleave that, somewhere somehow, the

Share users across domains
Hello Rodrigo,
I would create one Domain and put your students into one group. Then you create a OU (Organizational Unit) for the admin computers and put all the admin computers into that OU. After that you create a gpo in the OU that contains all your admin computers. In this gpo you can deny login for the students group as describe on the following site

I think this doesn't work with samba3.

You have to set a GPO, 'Restrizioni di selezione e stampa' in italian.

Rights issue on GPO
A good howto per exampl.e
http://www.itingredients.com/how-to-disable-usb-ports-using-group-policy/
Only i did not do this as computer policy but as user policy.
In short,
1) create 2 groups:
USB-Allowed
USB-Denied
2) create 2 policies objects,
USB-Allowed
USB-Denied
And set in the allow polices
( as shown in the link but under the user polcies )
3) add correct group to the same

Is a mixed MS/Samba DC environment doable?
Hi
I'd like to learn more on the pros and cons of a mixed domain that consists
of both MS and Samba domain controllers and member servers.
What I have learnt so far is this;
I created a new lab domain with an MS DC 2019. I then added a Samba 4.19-3
file server as a domain member w/o any issues.
The clients are 2 Win 10 VM's for tests of shares, GPO's and related
technologies. Still

best practice for migrating win-dc to samba-dc
Hi:
I want to test migrating windows dc to samba dc (without
considering sysvol replication).
I installed brand new 2003R2, 2008R2, 2012R2 (with 2008R2
functional level).
I compiled samba 4.7.7, 4.8.1 at centos 7.4.
1. I tried to join samba as DC to windows with command:
samba-tool domain join samdom.example.com DC
-U"SAMDOM\administrator"

SMB share access for machines which are not joined to the domain?
Hmmm...
Use the netbios name, instead of a FQDN, perhaps?
i.e.: \\cns-bio-krak1\emtifs
[I'm assuming the NB name. If I'm wrong, correct it.]
I know I've done this with Windows DC shares, and I'm 99% certain I've done it with FreeNAS acting as a domain member. [Samba domain member.]
I haven't done it with 18.04 / 4.7.6 - but can't see why it should be different.

Issue network share mapping - Windows 10
Hello,
I am facing issues to keep samba share to be mapping in Windows 10
After computer start, and first login, the share is mounted correctly.
Then user logout, wait for 5 min, and log in windows again, the share
cannot be mounted.
An "error 64" occurs, with then "the specified network path is not
available"...
My samba server is in version 3.5.6 (SMB1)

Strange issue with share access on domain controllers
Make sure you use the new GPO policies.
Looks like the problem "[Samba] Windows 10 in Samba 3 domain: netlogon share access denied"
Its not only for windows 10, also 7 and 8.x
Solution: GPEDIT.MSC -> Computer -> Administrative templates -> Network
-> Networkprovider -> Hardened UNC Paths
Added
\\foo.lan\netlogon and Value:
