Seperate BIND server for Samba 4
Hello! I've set up samba 4 with great success since alpha12, but i've always used a locally installed version of BIND. Is it possible to use a seperate BIND server instead? I'd like to not run BIND on my file server. I have not seen any instructions to this effect, so perhaps someone would please point me in the correct direction? Thank You Very Much!! ++AMARU

SAS to R migration questions
Hi, I'd like to get away from SAS, but I don't really know R well enough at this point to know if it would be good for this project. I tried to describe the essence of the project below without getting bogged down in details. It starts when I receive a data flat file. There's lots of columns, but the relevant ones are: custid (customer ID number) saledt (date of sale)

XCP 1.0-RC3 - 3Ware 9750 SAS Support
Hi Xen-Users! I''m anxious to run XCP 1.0, but I am unable to find a suitable driver for my 3ware 9750-SAS controller. Can anyone instruct me on where I can find or build one that will work? Thank you in advance! ++AMARU _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Microsoft Access MDB database on Samba share
I'm having problems using Microsoft Access 2000 mdb files on a Samba share. The same database worked very well on a Windows server. I had hoped Samba would be a drop in replacement for a Windows server but apparently Access needs special Samba configuration. In Access I sometimes get Run-time error '3035': System resource exceeded. I don't see any errors in the log file when

Loading flat-file data into multiple tables
I have a CSV export file with 11 columns that I need to ''split'' into three related tables (some columns go into each table). Departments (have many projects) Projects (have many audiences) Audiences (have many projects) I understand the model relationships, and have those built. I am using FasterCSV for file importing and have that iterating through the CSV rows using a

Hi, I want to upgrade to version 2 but I would like to solve a long standing problem with 'flat' directory structure ie we have /var/spool/vmail/mydomain.com/user at mydomain.com and I want a new server with version 2 to have hashed directory structure like /var/spool/vmail/mydomain.com/u/s/user I was wondering it f there is some better solution then dir hashing or a way to hash a dir

User Data / Profiles / Permission / Mappings Loss from Samba to Samba Migration
We have completed a migration from one Samba server to another Samba. The versions and binaries are exactly the same. The only difference between the two configs is that the original Samba server used LDAP for authentication and the new Samba server uses the flat files for authentication (smbpasswd file). Here is the problem: On a Windows 2000 file server, we have folder shares. Users can log on

DNS: Migrate from BIND9_FLATFILE to SAMBA_INTERNAL (Samba 4.1.17)
Dear all, I have a few question regarding to DNS and upgrading from Samba 4.1.17 to 4.4.2. After reading about the Badlock Bug, I feel the urge to upgrade my Samba installation and to move from BIND9_FLATFILE to SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS. I am using Samba version 4.1.17. During provisioning (some years ago) I have decided to use BIND9_FLATFILE. At this moment I would like to upgrade to Samba 4.4.2 and

WG: Windows vista ultimate samba 3.0.31
I found the solution: I tried the srvmgr tool from microsoft to get connected to my samba 3 domain (from an XP client). And this tool told me the same "There is no PDC found for your domain. You may go on but but your rights may be Restricted." As I logged on I saw that both my PDC and BDC where BDCs. I stopped my BDC. Logged on to my PDC and remembering that I had also smbd4wins

ACLs on Solaris, plus migration
Has anybody migrated samba from one machine to the other? I have tried migrating from a PC running Linux to a PC running Solaris, and all worked fine at first, then when I turned off the original machine, the NT ACLs stopped showing up (the Solaris box happily reported the ACLs at the unix level) I tried turning the original machine back on and, to my surprise, the domain attached to the ACLs

After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
Yes, I tried running dbcheck (see first email), it showed 0 errors from the start, I never had to fix anything. All checks on the flat files work fine, SMB basic access works fine too, but as soon as I introduce authentication or ldap or DNS, it fails. ch/com, just a typo. No firewall set up on this server so that's not it either. Is there anything else we could try? Or do you think this

Questions about migration Sun Messaging -> Dovecot+Postfix+Ldap
Hello. We are planning a migration from Sun One Messaging Server to Dovecot+Postfix+Ldap. We are using Dovecot 1.2.11 with Sun One Directory Server 5.2 ldap (we will migrate to Directory Server 6.3.1) soon. In our University we have 65.000 students, 5.500 staff and 6.500 teachers. Our main ldap realm is dc=us,dc=es (us means University of Seville, Spain). We have two e-mail
