Samba 3.2.6 upgrade -> smbd panic in printing.
Hello, upgraded to Samba 3.2.6, and immediately printing went into coma. Observed that printers lose their configurations (driver models, locations, etc). And if I reset the printer drivers on each share, eventually they will be lost again. Looking at the logs we are getting panics like this: --- [2008/12/16 05:12:51, 0] lib/util_tdb.c:tdb_log(682) tdb(/var/lib/samba/printing/CanonC1.tdb):

smb panic when trying to use printer (samba 3.3.11/CentOS5.4)
Hi everyone, I recently wanted to try Samba 3.3.11 for CentOS 5.4. At first, I tried the Sernet packages then I compiled my own packages but in both cases, I get the same error messages (SMB?PANIC) when I try to install/delete/use printers in Samba. At first, I thought this was a right issue on filesystem (due to messages "Permission denied" in logs), so I change many rights at many

core dump after live migrating virtualized environment
Dear Samba- We're using the virtualization application openVZ to run small web services for researchers. Unlike other virtualization software, openVZ uses the host file system for the guest OS; essentially the root file system of the guest is a chrooted subdirectory on the host. When openVZ migrates a guest between two host machines it uses rsync to transfer the files. Unfortunately, this

Problem after updating 3.3 to 3.5
Hi, I recently updated my Samba from 3.3 to 3.5, and while that worked fine, I can no longer access my shares - it asks for a password, which fails even if I do enter a correct one. Here is one of my shares - very simple, I think: [myshare] comment = My Share path = /path/to/myshare public = yes read only = yes writable = no browseable = yes printable = no guest ok = yes

Upgrading from 3.0.37 to 3.5.9
I am upgrading from 3.0.37 to 3.5.9 on the same server and need some advice. I am running Solaris 10 on a domain server that services 10 XP and Win 7 clients. The existing Samba directory structure is not standard. I believe the engineer who built the Solaris install transferred all Samba 2.0 directories from the old server to the current server and then created additional directories for the

Users can't login on XP workstations
Hello, I'm running Samba 3.2.5 on Debian, with tdbsam backend. For the past few days, I've had trouble with starting Samba (which I do routinely once a day) but with users unable to login on Windows workstations. When this happens, the current smbd.log shows no activity (not even the "starting samba" event) and the previous day's smbd.log shows entries like these:

Printer settings don't stick
Experienced programmer, Samba noob, CUPS noob; trying to use Ubuntu 6.06 Server as a print server for Windows XP clients on a home LAN. Worked through the Howto and got point-and-print to work for my Canon iP1200 (raw CUPS queue, and I used the Windows XP Add Printer Wizard to upload the driver to the print$ share). However, I can't persuade the printer driver to change the ink cartridge mode

User migration issues
I've been looking throught the archives for a set of things to be done to migrate a install with samba 3.2.5 (lenny) to another server (wheezy) I can cope with the name change, that's no problem, but I'd like to avoid having to recreate the users on the new server, so far I tried this, without much success - scp the smb.conf to the new server - make hot backups cd /var/lib/samba

ctdb_client.c control timed out - banning nodes
Hello, We are using CTDB / Samba to serve a number of windows users, at this point around 1200. We have a 4 node CTDB setup. CTDB version - ctdb-1.0.114.7-1 Samba Version - sernet-samba-4.1.16-10 In recent months we've seen a big problem when 1 of the CTDB nodes is stopped or disconnected either manually or resulting from a problem. On some occasions, all other nodes get banned if a node
