Winbind issues with CTDB
I am attempting to configure a Samba cluster using DRBD and CTDB. I am
currently having some issues with winbind. Everytime I start winbind or
attempt to join my server to the domain the machine stalls and the ctdb
error log is filled with the following:

UID syncing issues with CTDB
I have been working on a CTDB cluster on and off for a while now. I had it
working great for a while. THen I decide dthat I wanted to change the
configuration of my replicated volumes. I changed my DRBD configuration to
match my desired configuration. Now I can get the CTDB to work quite right.
I am able to join the cluster to the domain without issues. I can also list

Solaris winbind with password aging (workaround inside)
A few days back, I asked whether it was possible to have winbind co-exist with password aging on a Solaris system. Seems like there is no easy way around this.
After a few more days of frantic poking and truss-ing around, I found a crude but seemingly workable workaround.
It seems the the library /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 is the one
responsible for checking that the passwd entry in

File Server member DC ACL permissions
Dear Rowland,
This Samba 4 domain was not provisioned from scratch.
Here in the company we had a DC Windows 2008. The Samba was provided to secondary DC.
Then, the primary DC remains Windows, but will be removed this weekend. Samba DC will be the primary DC.
In the file server file krb5.conf, I informed the KDC servers pointing to the Samba DC.
Follows the smb.conf my DC Samba 4:

Winbind/nsswitch issue on Solaris 9 (Sparc)
Hi all
I need to set up Samba on Solaris 9 (Sparc) as a Windows Domain Member.
I took the precompiled 64-bit Package
(samba-2.2.8a-1-sol8-suncc-64bit.pkg) from samba.org, which comes with
pam-winbind libraries, and it installed fine.
I ran a test before with Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 8 (Intel), but there I
compiled myself with ./configure --with-winbind --with-pam --with-quotas

Problem with winbind and nsswitch.conf on Solaris 8 server
Hello,
I'm having some problems using winbind on Samba 3.0.1 with /etc/nsswitch.conf on a Solaris 8 server. The Solaris 8 release is 10/00.
The basic problem that I have is that there are restrictions on what nsswitch.conf can contain if password ageing is used.
My setup is that users connecting to shares on the Solaris samba server are authenticated against a accounts on a Windows Active

Desperate -- I'll even pay -- winbind/samba -- challenge/resp onse password authentication failed
I think this is acceptable - I get the same output for this command in a
Samba session on a Win2000 domain and it works fine.
$ wbinfo -a DOM+W2kusername%password
plaintext password authentication succeeded
challenge/response password authentication failed
Could not authenticate user DOM+W2kusername%password with

I think you are 99% setup. I followed this posting initially to

getent not listing ADS users ctdb samba
Hi,
I am setting up ctdb samba, and have hit a brick wall trying to solve the
following issue.
1. getent does not retrieve the list of domain users or groups (wbinfo
works fine)
I'm not sure what I'm missing but I've almost spent the whole day trying to
resolve this one and haven't made any progress :-(
Any help or suggestions are appreciated

Solaris nsswitch.conf with winbind
Hi,
I have the exact same problem (described in this archived mail below) but couldn't find any solution in the archives or on google.
So far, I have tried renaming one of the "allowed" libraries like ldap and then creating a symlink named nss_ldap.so.1 to point to nss_winbind.so.1 and also tried renaming in different versions of the /etc/nsswitch.conf file before and after

File Server member DC ACL permissions
I will choose to use the winbind.
Based on the link that Rowland said:
https://wiki.samba.org /index.php/Setup_Samba_as_an_AD_Domain_Member
I followed the steps as described in the tutorial.
I created symlinks.
In the main DC I added this line in smb.conf:
idmap_ldb: use RFC2307 = yes
Changed /etc/nsswitch.conf
passwd: files winbind
shadow: files
group: files winbind
hosts:

ID mapping not the same between servers - smb and nfs
We mount most of our share though samba but I a server that has the home
directory mounted though nfs. The ID mappings are not the same. The
server is joined to the domain. The domain has 2 samba4 servers and one
win2k8r2 server. The 2 servers in question are CentOS 5.9 x86_64 and
samba 3.6.19 from sernet.
Any ideas?

Solaris 8 + winbind
Hi
I'm new to this list. I'm running samba 2.2.2. on Solaris 8
and trying to get winbind to work. I've modified my nsswitch.conf file to
include:
passwd: files winbind
shadow: files winbind
group: files winbind
I have compiled samba with the --with-winbind option and copied the
libnss_winbind.so
files to /lib
problems:
1. getent passwd only returns local users (passwd
