Samba 3.3.12/3.4.7/3.5.2 on "ancient" server stops responding/dies
Hello,
I'm trying to upgrade samba (TPTB are going to introduce win7
workstations) on my old server (mandrake 10.0) currently running 3.0.11.
I setup a virtual machine to do some testing and I built rpms for 3.5.2
(apart from the other problems it has this one
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7263) then for 3.4.7 and
finally for 3.3.12.
Each one of them has problems, the most

Still no working windbind on Solaris9 - samba 3.4.9
Greetings,
Was away from samba for a time, now trying again. I have this working
under Solaris 10, but have not been able to get a functional samba
Active Directort member server working on Solaris 9 since samba 3.2.15.
Later versions Samba will serve file to PC clients, but not permit
interactive logins to the host. I see messages like:
ld.so.1: su: fatal: relocation error: file

unable to build 3.2 on HP-UX
Hi all,
I'm trying to build Samba 3.2 on HP-UX 11.11. I already tried different
settings
(without ldap, active directory etc, building in a different directory)
but without
success.
The Problem is independent from configure options - called within the
source tree without any options leads exactly to the same result.
Here are some informations about my setup:
gcc (GCC) 4.2.3
HP-UX B.11.11

Compiling on RHEL 5.3 possible? --libtalloc does not exist
I've tried Samba 3.2.14, 3.3.7, and 3.4 (source3). In each instance, smbd was missing
libtalloc.so.1
libtdb.so.1
libwbclient.so.0
as reported by ldd. It didn't work to well either :-)
I've not been able to find RHEL 5 libtalloc package. I tried installing some from fedora core(6 and 11), however, they had considerable dependency trees... some of which conflicted with what was

winbind + rpc windows
Hi,
I've managed to configure winbind to use RPC instead of AD to
authenticate users. I was able to do a few auths and from nothing
winbind started to crash with the following error message:
Any hint on what may be the error?
I've already deleted all tdb files and restarted the services, and the
server, and don't get it solved.

Sanity check my setup....
This is my first step into the world of samba and I was wondering if
the members of the group wouldn't mind casting a quick eye on my
setup.
Essentially we just want Samba integrated with AD so we can access the
Unix file systems.
Any comment will be gratefully received...!
Cheers,
Kristian
Everything seems to work, although we do get these errors:

[SOLVED] Compiling on RHEL 5.3 possible? --libtalloc does not exist
Ah so... sure enough these libraries are found in their default locations /usr/local/samba/lib.
./configure LDFLAGS=Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/samba/lib SOLVED this problem
on RHEL 5.3, x86_64 with gcc 4.1.2
Thanks,
RW Hornbaker
