Building on RHEL 8
Good evening: I've been trying to build up Samba on RHEL 8. My work is at: https://github.com/nkadel/samba4repo/tree/nkadel-rhel8 I've run into a number of issues. One is that RHEL 8 does not have an uptodate mocka. I've add a git submodule for that. Another is that various python modules are missing: Again, I've added modules for that. Another is that RHEL 8 introduced a very

Upgrading Xen 3 on SL 5 server with CentOS 5 and SL 5
I'm dealing with an old Xen 3 server, and badly need to update it and all the vm's on it to more contemporary operating systems. So far, so good! Can the Xen server on CentOS 5 para-virtualized CentOS 6? And if not, I'm having real trouble getting a live cd or installation media to boot in full virtualization to do the update of the guests. I'd normally start by updating the Xen

CentOS 6 VM image for paravirtualizaton on CentOS Xen server
I'm looking at a CentOS 5 Xen server that I'd really like to put some more recent VM's. There are reasons not to touch it at the moment, so I can't upgrade it in place today. Has anyone successfully installed a CentOS 6 VM, paravirtualized, on a CentOS 5 Xen server , without significant Xen upgrades? If so, can I get a copy from a reputable source, or one that I can review before

VMWare vs. Xen, is the conflict by VMware deliberate?
I''ve been trying to virtualize SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 for various reasons, and found that the Xensource 4.x doesn''t support it, nor does the open source Xen 3.x in any of the environments I''ve tried. It works on VMware, but for various reasons I prefer to use Xen on my Dom0. (I like open source, and the base OS for the commercial reasons is much, much more recent, and

Can we get a copy of ks.cfg for varous images into /root/ks.cfg?
I've recently been dealing with various CentOS images on AWS, and am being forcibly reminded that the "/root/anaconda-ks.cfg" has only a passing resemblance to whatever the kickstart configuration file actually contained. But getting a copy of the actual "ks.cfg" is invaluable for updating and testing variations of the kickstart setup, especially when manipulating disk

Hi everyone, I've posted some updated source and binary rpms following the release of updates by the samba project. Updated rpms include samba-4.10.6 and ldb-1.5.5. Here are the links: - http://nova.polymtl.ca/~coyote/dist/samba/samba-4.10.6/RHEL7 As usual, these work fine for me (4.10.6) but YMMV. Please do report issues if you find some. Regards, Vincent

RHEL 5 compilation of Samba 3.5.2, termcap library problem, use '--no-as-needed'
There have been various reports of the difficulties compiling Samba 3.5.x on RHEL 5 and other older operating systems, due to the failure to correctly load the 'termcap' libraries. The issue is described in various sources as involving the automaticlaly included GCC option: '--as-needed' failes to detect the dependencies and add the termcap library. There are two graceful fixes
