Samba 2.2.0. & Vista Business Edition
I'm trying to get a new Vista Business client to connect a newly created
Samba server. Windows XP clients connect without issue.
I have tried changing 'Network Security: Lan Manager Authentication Level'
to 'Send LM & NTLM use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated', as suggested
on other sites, but to no avail. We have a domain, but both the Samba server

AW: What's in a name
To cite from www.xiph.org (the author's name of this text was not available

The Ogg project began with a few-weekend-attempt at a simple audio
compression package as part of a larger project in 1993. At the time, the

compression became a personal fascination, and Squish took on a life of its

fixed delay logging onto Samba3.3 from Vista Business
Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody has experienced a fixed delay about 30-40seconds
while logging onto the samba domain running samba version 3.3 from Windows

Cheers,

Okay. I am now thinking it may be routing on the Windows box, so I
will next put my focus/attention more to that.

What's new about the Webrick/Mongrel situation ?
Hi,
I''ve just finished James Turnbull book "Pulling Strings With Puppet" - which
definitely an excellent introduction to Puppet, and I was wondering - as the
book is a couple years old, what was the status of the all mongrel/webrick
situation ? I guess it''s still recommended to use Mongrel rather than
Webrick for puppetmaster, at least for 0.25.5 (which I''m

Thanks to Drew Vonada-Smith the roaming profiles are working again. The

mkstemp fails but data still transferred
Hi all,
I'm running rsync version 2.6.3 protocol version 28 on Solaris 8 and am
having a problem.
We have some scripts that wrap around rsync and generate a list of files
to transfer from the sending system (regardless of whether that directory
exists on the receiver). I was expecting rsync to fail when transferring
files with a path that doesn't exist on the receiver (in fact

[LLVMdev] Function binding
Hey list,
I'm looking for information on how programs that span multiple LLVM
modules work at runtime, especially wrt. symbol handling when running
in a JIT setting. To give some background, I'm developing a language
that targets LLVM as a backend, and I'd like my translation units to
map to LLVM modules as closely as possible.
What I'm looking for here is something similar to

Fwd: RSync Progress Report Request
I would line to see a -progress_time {sec} type option,
which wil only show the progress of a file after that file has already
taken more than {sec} to transfer.
This could also ne a useful addition to the compond -P option, say with
a argument of 5 seconds.
Situation...
I use RSync all the time to syncronize my home directory on my work
machine with that of my home machine (or visa-sersa).

Puppet & Daemontools
Hi there,
I''ve been playing with puppet for a couple of weeks (So, I''m still quite a
newbie at it) and there is something I just can''t seem to be able to fix.
I''m trying to have puppet manage daemontools service. Following the
documentation <http://docs.puppetlabs.com/guides/types/service.html>, I
added this in my puppet configuration:

mail accounts for users without home dirs
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi!
I use dovecot on a machine where users without an existing home directory (Not
my idea...) need to access their mailboxes. Unfortunately dovecot tries to
chdir to the users home directory before allowing IMAP access - is there
anything I can do about that besides creating a dummy-homedirectory for these
users?
Greetings,

MASQed subnets...

biplot.princomp - changing score labels
Dear R helpers,
When producing a PCA biplot, vectors of environmental variables (as red
arrows with labels) and scores of the observations (black labels
(observation names)) are plotted by default. How can I change the
graphical output? Let's say I would like that the scores are plottet
only as symbols and not text. The only solution I found was this post in

Promote samba-3 BDC to PDC
Hi,
We have an old domain with a samba-3 PDC and LDAP backend in our HQ and
two BDC in our branch offices.
Since we don't use the domain in our HQ anymore and one of the branches
will be moved to our new domain (2003/2008) I'm thinking about
decomissioning the PDC and promote both BDCs as PDC for their branch
offices and networks.
I would also get rid of LDAP. Changing the backend to
