Upgrading 3.2.15 to 3.3.12 sernet package on opensuse 10.2
Dear all, I have samba 3.2.15 PDC running with an openldap backend and smbd4wins on the same host. There is also a BDC the same as my PDC. After I did an update to 3.3.12 on my BDC this worked on the fly without problems. Then I went on doing the same update on my PDC with the result of chaos. No user was able to logon anymore , when I did a smbclient -L mypdc -N it was extremely slow, and my

Error setting initial password for a user when using LDAP as backend and trying to set Samba and Unix password to the same value
Hello, i?ve some problems setting the initial password for Windows and Unix User with Samba configured to use LDAP as backend. I?ve attached the configuration files and the errors. Creating a new user with net rpc user add "xyz" is working without problem. Using for example GQ as LDAP browser, i can see the account and also getent passwd is showing the entry. I?ve activated ldap

Samba 3.3.12/3.4.7/3.5.2 on "ancient" server stops responding/dies
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade samba (TPTB are going to introduce win7 workstations) on my old server (mandrake 10.0) currently running 3.0.11. I setup a virtual machine to do some testing and I built rpms for 3.5.2 (apart from the other problems it has this one https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7263) then for 3.4.7 and finally for 3.3.12. Each one of them has problems, the most

2.2.7 to 3.3.12 upgrade issue
Upgraded an AIX Server from AIX 5.3 TL3 with Samba 2.2.7 to AIX 7.1 TL3 with 3.3.12. Client uses AD authentication. Upgrade did not change smb.passwd or smb.conf. Windows users trying to mount a share are presented a request for their credentials; whether they supply the AD or AIX credentials, the access is denied - "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." The smbd and

Samba 3.0.24 handling LDAP responses incorrectly
Hey list, Recently I've gotten my Samba PDC to successfully use an OpenLDAP backend, while using the smbk5pwd and ppolicy overlays for OpenLDAP. However, Samba appears to incorrectly handle responses from LDAP's ppolicy overlay, even though it very clearly receives them. If I enter in a password (be it through Ctrl+Alt+Delete or when a password expires and the user is prompted at logon)

samba + openldap + tls
Hi, I using openldap 2.0.23 and samba 2.2.4 on a Redhat 7.2 Linux distrib. I've compiled with ldap support dans It works fine in clear mode. I've configured unix auth. in order to use ldap on TLS mode, and it works also. When I try to use TLS more (or SSL on 636), it doesn't work. LDAP doesn't seem to have an error (see logs below), but samba tells "Failed to issue the

Can't connect Windows 7 client to Samba 3.3.12 on AIX
This samba is scheduled for upgrade. We've been testing samba 4.3.8 packages (from BULLFreeware) on other AIX. It was not easy the install, even with RPM packages. I hope to do the upgrade soon, but I need to have this particular user working now. What puzzles me is that I have other windows 7 PCs happily working on the same resource. 2017-01-04 16:21 GMT-03:00 Rowland Penny via samba

Access and group issues on domain member server (PDC is Samba as well)
Hi List, I created a domain member server in my samba domain. I start to realize that there are some issues when colleagues could not access some folders in the their shares. After searching for a solution I found that on that member server I have no "samba" groups available. First of all my setup: Domain controller: CentOS 6.2 x86_64, latest updates installed Samba 3.5.10 (from

[smbd4wins] wins hook - ttl so long ?
Hi folks, i've a question about the ttl, which my wins hook script gets from smbd4wins: I record many entries with extrem high ttls like refresh $SERVER 20 1181977528 $IPADDRS... the ttl of 1181977528 means ~13.000 days which is very long. if i look into the ldb itself, there's an expiry time of ~ 24days (16.06.2007). ---- dn: name=$SERVER,type=0x20 [...] expireTime:

getent behavior since 3.5.x
Since upgrading to samba 3.5.x (x=2,3,4) from samba 3.4.8 and samba-3.3.12 on FreeBSD versions 6.4, 7.3 and 8.0, getent has failed to return samba group or user entries displaying only the local unix group and password data. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g seem to work just fine. No smb.conf changes were made during the upgrades. Falling back to samba 3.4.8 resolves this issue. Logins using the samba
