Verification on HOW adding a machines works
I'm straddling the half-way point between samba and ldap. When adding a machine to the domain, functionally, it works like you would expect. You enter in the domain, enter your credentials, and reboot. The computer is able to function as a machine on the domain. I'm using the smbldap-tools as suggested in the wiki. Here's the script: add machine script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd

Frailty and coxph
Does someone know the rules by which 'coxph' returns 'frail', the predicted frailty terms? In my test function: ----------------------------------------------- fr <- function(){ #testing(frailty terms in 'survival' require(survival) dat <- data.frame(exit = 1:6, event = rep(1, 6), x = rep(c(0, 1), 3),

Automating the Samba Install
Hey all, I'm coloring outside the lines a little bit here but I would like to automate the install of a samba pdc. Within that script to install I would like to assign rights to a group. Here is an example of a few steps: # Create Unix group: groupadd domadmins # Map unix group to samba groups: net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=domadmins rid=512 type=d # Assign

coxph and frailty
Hi: I have a few clarification questions about the elements returned by the coxph function used in conjuction with a frailty term. I create the following group variable: group <- NULL group[id<50] <- 1 group[id>=50 & id<100] <- 2 group[id>=100 & id<150] <- 3 group[id>=150 & id<200] <- 4 group[id>=200 & id<250] <- 5 group[id>=250

A device attached to the system is not functioning (smbd -V 3.5.x)
Howdy, I'm having one last problem with my Samba PDC with an ldap backend. When I add a machine to the domain I get the error, on my Win7 test client, that says: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "office": A device attached to the system is not functioning. Here are some particulars: # smbd -V Version 3.5.6 (configured sernet repo to install latest

Variance of random effects: survreg()
I have the following questions about the variance of the random effects in the survreg() function in the survival package: 1) How can I extract the variance of the random effects after fitting a model? For example: set.seed(1007) x <- runif(100) m <- rnorm(10, mean = 1, sd =2) mu <- rep(m, rep(10,10)) test1 <- data.frame(Time = qsurvreg(x, mean = mu, scale= 0.5, distribution =

Extracting parameters for Gamma Distribution
I'm doing a cox regression with frailty: model <- coxph(Surv(Start,Stop,Terminated)~ X + frailty(id),table) I understand that model$frail returns the group level frailty terms. Does this mean this is the average of the frailty values for the respective groups? Also, if I'm fitting it to a gamma frailty, how do I extract the rate and scale parameters for the different gamma

Survival analysis with COXPH
Dear all, I would have some questions on the coxph function for survival analysis, which I use with frailty terms. My model is: mdcox<-coxph(Surv(time,censor)~ gender + age + frailty(area, dist='gauss'), data) I have a very large proportion of censored observations. - If I understand correctly, the function mdcox$frail will return the random effect estimated for each group on the

smb/cifs protocol thingy
Hello, i have some big dilemas regarding to smb, and i couldn't figure out the following(afer reading the docs): When a client authenticates to a samba server does he send the hash of the password over a clear text connection , or does he send the hash over some kind of encrypted connection ?. When there is a password change from the client, does the password travel in clear text over and

P2P comments thingy
I had an idea. I find it really difficult to get all the correct comments into my vorbis files, especially since i mainly rely on the freedb.org connectivity within CDex to save me from the time consuming task of getting the correct data into the files, making sure everything is spelled properlly etc. So i was just wondering if theres any viable point in the existence of a P2P comments software

What is the best way to handle this? It''s not a good use of the new Polymorphic-Association thingy is it?
Just getting back into Rails, so apologies. Just a bit of advice please. I''m trying to rewrite the change control app that I wrote originally in VB/Oracle. It''s used heavily by our project and customer and seems a good project to rewrite in rails, if not for this customer then perhaps for another. Anyway, I have decided to go with MySQL this time and have the following

chown/chgrp for winbind users doesn`t work
Hello, I have two Samba Domains and each trust each other (PDCs run 3.0.22). Also I have a samba member server (3.0.24) that runs winbind. When I use wbinfo I can see the user and groups of both domains. I also can chown/chgrp files with users of the domain the server is member of. But I can`t chown/chgrp with accounts of the trusted domain. chown doesn`t work at all. chgrp works, but then only
