Okay, this problem is solved. It turns out when I was doing the wide links and unix extensions option it really was working. It wasn't until I logged out and logged back in to the client to get a fresh smb connection that it worked. So I'm good. Thanks for the help everyone. I appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out how to handle our fax line when we switch to our asterisk for voice. After a lot of reading and poking about I have concluded, as have many others it would seem, that the best thing to do is either to have a separate pstn fax line or use some sort of internet faxing service rather than try and make faxing work in a way it's not meant to over voip lines.

Hi all, I'm trying to setup an asterisk based fax receiving machine. i'm using asterisk 1.2.18 and app_rxfax with spandsp 0.0.4pre9 I have no problems with a modem-fax, but with the fax machines i have tried almost every fax fails, both in sending and receive. the machines are sending a receiving a lot of faxes every day and working well, so i think the problem is on the spandsp side. i
