cups/samba/filename
Hi all, I use cups and samba on a mandriva2006 linux box. (Cups is compiled with samba. "ldd /usr/sbin/smbd" give "libcups.so.2 => /usr/lib/libcups.so.2 (0xb7e55000)" and i'd like to see the correct filename printed, not the samba filename smbprn.xxxxxx is there a function in samba ? file corrupted
I use samba 2.2.2 with linux mdk 8.1. my clients machines run under win2k, everything is ok but sometimes when a user write a file to a service shared by samba with word, excel ... that seems to write ok, but when the user want to reopen this file, word or excel don't want to open it, because file is corrupted i think. We can find into this file at the beginning a a piece of text like this

hi i have installed wine. it works fine, but unfortunately, i cant see the .wine folder at my places. how can i make it visible? what are the reasons, that the folder is invisible by defautl? peter

lld/mach-o x86_64 asserts
On LLD mach/o x86_64 LLD calls dataInCodeTransitionStart and dataInCodeTransitionEnd, which aren't implemented (and thus return the defautl value 0), later in applyFixupFinal it reaches the default: unreachable causing miscompiles depending on the optimizer. Attached is a simple patch that fixes this. It also fixes the read8 method, as object files inside .a files aren't 8 byte aligned

Best inode_ratio for maildir++ on ext4
Hi, This might be a silly question: which would be the best inode ratio for a 5 Tb filesystem dedicated to Maildir++ storage? I use ubuntu server, which has a preconfigured setting for mkfs.ext4 called "news" with inode_ratio = 4096, and after formating the fs with that setting and then with the defautl setting I see this difference of space (wasted space, but more inodes): 4328633696

When running Dovecot (rc6 CVS dovecot-20060808) as a proxy, why would it log the following when it has not yet maxed out the allowed number of imap-login processes? lenny with samba 3.2.5 and cups
I had a machine using cups and sam,ba, to let access the printers using samba. I Updated from etch 3.0.24 to lenny 3.2.5 and cups from 1.2.7 to 1.3.8 keeping the previous config files Now samba still works for files, but the printers has disappeared ... has someone a smb file with cups printers working to send me as an example ?

how to uninstall wine
I need to remove wine completely on Red Hat Linux 7.1 I tried "make uninstall" but it doesn't work completely.. It only uninstalls it partially. I didn't install it using rpm btw. So i can't do something like rpm -e wine. There's also no "dkpg" whatever command! Thanks. Didier.

Looking for mkdosfs for Syslinux 1.67
Greetings one and all. I'm a unix newbe....so deal with me here. I have a .iso copy of syslinux 1.67 (which actually might be ISOlinux??) that I boot from CD (ramdisk version...no HD needed)... but my version doesnt have the mkdosfs utility on it. I was looking for an executable that would work with this version... can someone point me toward such an animal??? :Pat

problems embedding R
I have a problem with embedding R into perl. I downloaded the interface program/module from omegahat.org, and I can't seem to understand how to use it. This is all done under Win NT 4.0.
