This is a PDC for a windows domain DOMAIN. The IP has remained the same as the hardware is being upgraded though I'm changing the hostname and linux distro. I have copied over the user accounts

I downed the Windows box and brought the Linux box on-line with same workgroup name as the old PDC. The smb.conf looks good according to http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-

user can't logon to specific computer: creds_server_check failed
A few computers -- two or three -- are very spotty about letting people log on. It seems -- and this could be off-base -- that they'll let anyone log on once, but will require a reboot before you can log on again. Sometimes, logging on works fine, though. There really appears to be little rhyme or reason to what happens. In the Samba logs, I'm getting: [2006/10/20 08:08:14, 0]

"Rejecting auth request from client" error after power outage
We had a power failure in our small test lab and the samba server crashed after the UPS shutdown procedure didn't work quite like it was supposed to. Upon reboot, the services started fine but none of our 3 XP test machines were able to login to the Samba PDC. The Samba logs showed the following... _net_auth2: creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client FLUENT02

Machine account being rejected
I have been running Samba at home as a fileserver for a long time and I have now been changing it to a PDC (later I want to try switching it to an AD server as a learning experience prior to doing the same on a server in work, which is already a PDC).I have got it to the point that it logs onto the user account but not the machine account. The local machine is called asus, the user account

samba rejecting machine accounts
Hi! I use Debian Sarge + Samba 3.0.22 + OpenLDAP 2.2.23 Server for a domain controller. Once a month i have to rejoin windows XP clients to the domain, because samba thinks they're not in the domain(users cannot log in). The error message found in each machine log: _net_auth2: creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client T2906 machine account T2906$ What's wrong?

Joining a Windows XP pc to Samba / LDAP domain
Hi, guys, I'm trying to create a PDC using Samba with an LDAP backend. According to all the guides I read, this should be fairly easy really, but I've done nothing else for the last week and it still doesn't work the way the manual says it should! As far as I can see, everything is set up and working correctly right up to the point when I try and join a machine to the domain.

Versions really don?t matter but for the sake of argument the systems that are ?working? are all CENTOS 4.7 systems using 3.0.28 Samba. My procedure is this: I mount a Domain member share on the non

can't add machine account
I am using FreeBSD 6.2 with Samba 3.0.24. Samba is set up as PDC and using the tdbsam backend. I'm having a hell of a time logging in my first machine (say Windows machine BLAH). First I created my login user on the system side (pw) and the samba side (pdbedit). # pw useradd username # pdbedit -a -u username Then I create the machine system account: # pw useradd -g machines -c Machine -d

Samba 3.0.33/3.2.15 AD joined slow initial connect with LDAP backend
I'm hoping someone can help me with the following. I currently have 2 Samba fileservers version 3.0.23d joined to our corporate Active Directory. Clients currently are Windows XP. I'm asked to prepare to migrate XP to Windows 7. From testing it looks like Samba 3.0.23d is not compatible with Windows 7. Therefor I started testing with the latest RHEL5 version 3.0.33-3.1e.el5 on RHEL5.
