Trouble joining Windows 7 machines to Samba PDC
Hi folks,
We have a domain controller running Samba 3.4.5 that is backed onto an
OpenLDAP datastore. The domain has no trouble joining Windows XP clients,
but we've got a couple of Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard that
we can't join to the domain.
The registry changes suggested in
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php?title=Windows7&oldid=4766 have been

Help - Cannot join Windows 7 client to Samba PDC
I have been going through all the Wikis and various Google searches to try
to solve my problem, all to no avail.
I can mount a Samba share, but whenever I try to login using a domain
account, I receive an error about "The trust relationship between this
workstation and the primary domain failed."
What I have done so far, all to no avail.

Member can't join DC2 (The specified network name is no longer available)
I'm new to AD and Samba but we have been running 1 Samba AD DC on our
network for a year now, without trouble.
We have 2 sites, separated by a street and linked together with a site
to site L2 VPN (EoIP on MikroTik). DC1 on site 1 (the currently running)
and we are trying to run a 2nd DC (DC2 and DC4) on the 2nd site.
idmap.ldb and sysvol are synchronized, `samba-tool drs showrepl` shows

Can't join to domain, Google-fu has failed me
Hi,
I've been using Samba for years as a domain controller without issue,
but this has stumped me.
I've set up Windows Vista Enterprise SP1 on a Virtual PC. Samba is
running on a Gentoo Linux box as version 3.3.3. I can access shares
without issue, but I can't get the machine to join the domain. When it
tries it shows "The parameter is incorrect".

Problem joining windows clients to Samba AD
Hello,
I come to you after several days of research about my problem: I cannot
make windows clients join my Samba AD domain anymore.
My domain is built with two Samba AD DCs, dc1 and dc2, that are both debian
12.6 up to date and use the debian samba packages (4.17.12+dfsg-0+deb12u1).
dc1 has all FSMO roles.
When I try to make a Windows computer join the domain, I get an error
saying the domain

Windows 10 does not register dns in samba 4.3.4
Are your running more domains on this samba server, this is the primary domain? tplk.loc ?
The settings below looks good, you can try setting ipv4 preffered over ipv6 ( or disable ipv6)
You can try also it with a fixed primary dns suffix.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786695(v=ws.10).aspx
1.Open the Network Connections folder and view available connections.
2.Right-click the

I had a working domain and then I realized I was spelling it wrong all this
time.
So I created a VM and installed samba with ad support on it
I used the instructions from
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller
all the tests for the DNS entries checked out
kinit checked out

windows 11 24H2 / DomainCompatibilityMode
Hi
it looks that latest windows 11 24H2 breaks Samba NT4 domain join
even with registry changed as described in
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Required_Settings_for_Samba_NT4_Domains
windows does not resolve domain name
and nltest /dsgetdc also fails with Status = 1355 0x54b ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN
already joined computers can still open domain session after update to 24h2

This is part of security hardening, to prevent the use of NTLMv1
authentication protocol (except for MSCHAPv2 authentication scheme)

Samba 3.0.2a+LDAP+PDC
Hi!
I'm trying to get samba and LDAP work together but there is some problems.
I'm using Samba 3.0.2a prebuild binaries (RH9) and openldap-2.0.27. (I've
tried also to compile samba myself and the result is same)
Everything goes fine, I can change password for users with smbldap-passwd,
add users, delete users which are located in LDAP -directory. Everything
seems
to be ok.
