AD Integration drives me nuts
Hi This has keeping me up for days now and I can't seem to find a solution in the various wikis, howtos and whatsoevers, so here's the plot: I have a W2K3 R2 x64 Domaincontroller (VM on vSphere4) and a CentOS 5.4 x64 fileserver (also a VM on vSphere4, same ESX-host), running Samba 3.0.33-3.15.el5_4.1 (rpm installation out of the box). All I want to do is to have Samba authenticate

I'm Sure I'm Missing Something Simple and Stupid, But...
Problem: When I try to open a samba share from a Windows 2003 R2 computer, I get a login challenge. When winbind and smb start up, the logs look clean except for the following: smbd.log -------- [2008/11/11 04:42:16, 3] lib/privileges.c:get_privileges(261) get_privileges: No privileges assigned to SID [S-1-22-1-0] [2008/11/11 04:42:16, 3] lib/privileges.c:get_privileges(261)

First write fails subsequent succeeds
I have been having a problem that has had me scratching my head for the last week and a half. I have searched with google, read the 13th hour troubleshooting guide (stopped when it got to the sniffer diagnostics), and have even upgraded samba to 3.0.0. I will post a description followed by a level 4 debug log file. When a user opens the "Public" share they can browse the share without

3.0.23 and group behavior
Okay, first the admisssions: I'll admit that I haven't been following the development as closely as I probably should have. And I'll admit in this case I might not be using Samba in the most efficient way possible. Also, I'm not 100% sure if I'm encountering a bug or just a seriously stupid misconfiguration issue. And I'm still collecting data on exactly what happened.

Samba 3.0.2a - Erroneously rejects NTLMv2 but accepts NTLM
Hello experts, I?ll try and keep this brief but detailed (if that?s possible.). I?m sure I don?t understand the technologies sufficiently but I believe I?m seeing counter-intuitive behavior with my Samba 3 setup. What I want is nice, tight Win 2K3 security. What I?ve got is ADS integration, including domain user authentication using winbind, but I can?t get the security level right. Problem

samba ADS-based authentication fails with NT_STATUS_USER_UNKNOWN but wbinfo works
Hi I've found a few list posts with this problem but none of their solutions helped. Apologies for the long mail but I've no idea which section of the various logs will be the important part. I've set up a RHEL5.3 server (with Samba 3.0.33) to authenticate to an existing active directory realm on our local network. The AD server is Windows-based and works fine for a couple of

After the changes made to the registry of Windows 7 as the samba wiki site, I can put the machine in domain. At the time of logging an error message appears "the trust relationship Between this workstation and the

Clients hang on file access - Samba 3.0.6
Hi all, I've included copies of the relavent files below. I'm having a bit of a problem with Samba in that when I try to access files on its shared resources, I can browse to the shares fine, but the moment I try to open a file, the client's file browser hangs. I've verified that this is a problem on both my Mac (OS X 10.3.4), my Windows XP SP2 and WIndows XP SP1 machines. I'm

Failed login with some of the accounts
Hello all, My Samba server has undergone a series of migration. And recently, I found that the newer accounts fails to login to older computers in the network. All PCs in my network runs Window XP. And I'm running Samba 3.4.7 here as PDC. When I login with a new account called "guest2", the computer says the password of my login is incorrect. What is my problem? What should I

samba, RedHat and Windows XP Home
Howdy. I'm running samba-3.0.2-2 (from the binaries on samba.org) on a RedHat 9 box with kernel 2.4.20-28.9. I can access shares from my Windows XP Home box, but the performance isn't very good. When I looked into this, I discovered that apparently the connections are getting dropped, over and over again, which causes a lot more work, I'm sure. Here's a snippet from my main

Problem: samba refuse my user with error message : NT_STATUS_NO_ SUCH_USER
Hi all, I'm trying to make samba authenticate to my Active Directory Domain. I already configured and tested Kerberos5 and joined my machine to my domain with no problems, getent passwd and group give me the correct output also wbinfo give a good output too, and I can logon using my domain user to SSH and to my server console, so I assume my Kerberos config is correct. Winbind problem - 3.0.20a and NT4 domain
All - We are using 3.0.20a on SLES 9 and are trying to configure a member server for our NT4 domain. The wbinfo commands (-u and -g) show correct information. The getent commands (passwd and group) work fine also. If Samba is running without winbind, I can see the shares in the config file (net view \\xxxxxxxx) from a PC. With winbind running I get an error message about the computer name
