Enforcing Dovecot Quotas
Hello, I have been looking at enforcing quotas for users of my mail system (postfix and Dovecot v1.2). Have tried to follow a few tuts on the web but its not having the desired effect. Essentially I can still send and receive mail on an account that I believe has had its quota exceeded. In my main.cf, I have: userdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/mysql/dovecot-mysql.conf } passdb sql {

Adding a machine account to Samba PCD + LDAP?
How does one go about adding a machine account, or even a normal samba account, on a Samba PDC with LDAP back end? I wanted to avoid using something like smbldap-useradd, because I want to actually understand what's going on. I'm assuming it's just some sort of small ldif to add, like I would for adding user, am I wrong? Thanks, Kyle

Importing Accounts from Windows?
Is there some automated system to import windows accounts into a samba or a samba ldap situation? I've got a few hundred users on an NT domain, and I'd like to migrate them sometime before the last piece of hardware supported by NT4 rusts. Right now several linux based samba servers are doing all of the heavy lifting (shared files printers etc), but they are all looking at the domain

Samba and quotas
Hi all, Being new on this list I do not really know if this is the correct list to post. After searching the archives I am pretty sure the answer is not yet here (or I can't search, which can be true) My problem is as follows We are currently testing a Linux/Samba server to host the home shares for about 1000 students at our school (the test is conducted with just 10 of them). With ca

samba quotas
Hi guys, we need to update our samba service from 2.2.8a to samba 3.0.x (so that we can upgrade our AD from Win2k to Win2k3). The problem I am having is with the quotas. We mount user home directories NFS and then export them to Windows users via samba. In 2.2.8a I was able to get quotas working. However with samba 3.0.x, I cannot. I compiled --with-quotas. Now when a user uses a 3.0

support for new zfs user/group quotas
Are there plans for supporting the user and group quotas that Solaris ZFS now supports as of Solaris 10 11/09? I'm testing with samba 3.3.7, compiled with '--with-quotas' that works with UFS quotas. Windows clients see the overall ZFS file system usage and capacity, not the user's personal usage and space. One can use 'quota -v' to check a user's zfs quota; the

Only administrator works in ldapsam:editposix domain
I tried setting up a samba/ldap domain using the ldapsam:editposix feature, using the brief instructions at http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix. Everything goes rather smoothly, and I can add XP machines and log into them as the Administrative user. I added a user to the server, then to samba/ldap using smbpasswd -a newuser ldapsearch -x shows the user & encrypted password, so

Odd issue with XFS quotas reporting 8192.0EB in use
Hi All, I have this very odd issue where after a migration we have some users who have quotas showing 8192.0EB in use, when in reality on disk there is only a couple hundred megabytes. The host in question is a: * CentOS 6.3 host with mostly latest patches (except latest glibc patches) * running in SELinux Enforcing mode (Permissive doesn't seem to help) * all file systems are on Logical

Quotas and Win98 clients
Dear all, I've successfully setup a Samba 2.2.3a file server with quota support on a RedHat Linux 7.1 with Kernel 2.4.18-ac2. Win NT clients (NT, 2K, XP) works fine, and samba report the quota per user as disk capacity. But Win98/ME clients don't. Samba report the filesystem capacity, and even worse, users can bypass their quotas ! I solved the problem using a dfree script written in

smbcquotas tells me that "quotas are not enabled"
I have a setup of Ubuntu 8.04 running Samba 3.0.28a. Connected to our network I have a buffalo linkstation acting as Network Attached Storage (NAS), which I have successfully mounted on the local file system. Using smbcquotas I believe I can set up a quota for each user on the NAS. To get started, I run the command: smbcquotas //192.168.1.4/share -S FSQFLAGS:QUOTA_ENABLED -A

Quota question
I am having problems with quotas on a RH8 server. I have compiled samba with the --with-quotas and --with-sys-quotas. If I leave the default kernel on rh8, which is 2.4.18-4, and set the user's quota, eg 10MB, the capacity is shown as 10MB. I compiled the newest kernel with the quota options: CONFIG_QUOTA=y CONFIG_QFMT_V2=y The quotas still work, however the disk size reported as the

quota calculating
Hey everyone, Currently where I work we use qmail. Every time a message is delivered, qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can, but haven't yet

Quota's with Thunderbird
Hi, Does anyone know how to get Thunderbird to correctly report the mailbox quota's? I know Dovecot is correctly enforcing the quotas on the mailbox when using Thunderbird, but Thunderbird reports that the "server does not support quota's" when trying to view the usage? Is Thunderbird expecting something different? Viewing the mailbox through Squirelmail, the quota's are

ZFS and disk usage management?
After struggling for some time to try and wedge a ZFS file server into our environment, I have come to the conclusion that I''m simply going to have to live without quotas. They have been immensely useful in the past 5 years or so in allowing us to keep track of which groups are hogging disk space, and even finding a bug in one manufacturing/engineering tool which occasionally crashed in a

"inotify_handler No data on inotify fd?"
I've got a samba server that's occasionally spewing inotify errors. The classic, "smbd/notify_inotify.c:inotify_handler No data on inotify fd?" type errors solved by kernel change notify = false Now, everything is working perfectly on this box unless one or two users leave files open from specific machines (this is as far as I can tell, it's hard to get good info from the

Understanding filesystem quotas
Hello: I've been trying to set up filesystem quotas for IMAP, and cannot seem to get it to work. In IMAP clients it either shows quota unavailable or unknown. I've read the documentation several times. I've enabled the quota plugins and to my knowledge that part is good. I've edited the file 90-quota.conf and uncommented these lines and set them as follows: plugin { quota_rule
