DNS Round Robin not working?
> > The internal DNS is NOT supporting round robin. As Rowland said use Bind9 > That's news to me! If so, then the internal DNS backed is not suitable for multiple DC's. (Though, I could've sworn it worked on versions 4.2+ < 4.7. It's on my to-do list to explore this further with different versions.)

password server and round robin dns of DCs
Hi All, I've been having a problem recently with LDAP queries for group names in winbind. I'm fairly certain the problem is to do with the fact that I'm using a round robin dns name for the password server. When samba starts it attaches itself to what I presume is the first server that returns from the dns lookup. When that server is taken down for maintenance it causes winbind to

openssh3.7.1p2 + krb5 round-robin dns issue
Hello All, I've encountered a problem with OpenSSH_3.7.1p2 and krb5 authentication that I did not have using previous OpenSSH versions and krb5. I have a group of machines that are all listed as addresses for hostname.domain.blah via round-robin dns. When attempting to ssh to hostname.here.blah using krb5 auth, I get the following error: (client side) debug1: Authentications that can

Round-robin DNS and session disconnects
Hello, Our service has multiple Samba servers to serve up the same directories for our users. The users map to a single address, which directs them to a server by round-robin DNS. This hasn't really been a problem until recently. One user in particular complains that he loses his session, often in the middle of editing a document, causing problems with Windows file locking and he says he

DNS load-balancing & SRV records
Let's say I have a third-party device acting as a sip<-->pstn gateway, a cluster of three asterisk servers, and a teensy bit of dns knowledge. Let's now say those asterisk servers are a1.company.com at 192.168.0.1, a2.company.com at 192.168.0.2, and a3.company.com at 192.168.0.3. 1. If I setup round-robin dns like so: asterisk.company.com. IN A 192.168.0.1 asterisk.company.com. IN

[Question] Multichannel load-balancing algorithm
Hello, I have a question about multichannel and the load-balancing algorithm. What kind of algorithm is it? (Roud-robin, dynamic round-robin, ...) What are the arguments the algorithm compute to load-balance the network traffic on the interfaces? I already know that if a 10Gb/s interface and a 1Gb/s interfaces are in the multichannel connection the 1Gb/s one will be ignored until the 10Gb/s goes

Samba CANNOT work with DNS round-robin (?)
This is posed as a question more that a statement, so if you can show that I'm wrong, please feel free to correct / flame me. A couple of years ago, I identified a file corruption issue caused by two people attempting to edit the same file via two different Samba servers. The file was in a shared file space, mounted on both Samba servers via NFS. The problem, I believe, lies in the fact

Asymmetric load balancing
How does this affect the fallback-mount(s) if the main mount isn't being used? <p>>Th redirect should of course include some info in the redirect URL >regarding how many times it's been redirected - you don't want to get >into a situation where users are bounced around indefinately. > >Personally, I'd go a step further and collect performance data so that

CTDB : DNS Round-robin of *ONE* ip (!)
Hi, Using ctdb, is it a valid setup to have : CTDB_PUBLIC_ADDRESSES=/etc/ctdb/public_addresses containing only one ip address, thus with no round-robin. Is there a particular hard-coded limit that doesn't allow this? -- Nicolas Ecarnot

Samba4, cluster FS and dns load balance to achive HA
Hello everyone, this is my first thread I watched the CTDB solution and allows to build a NAS Cluster with load balancing and failover https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/CTDB_Setup But still does not work as Active Directory Domain Controler. The question is: if i build to setup an AD DC in an single server over a cluster system files( example GPFS or Lustre ) this setup can work with a high

Dfs - Load Balancing
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using the Dfs functionality within Samba. I've been searching for any performance information and or documentation regarding Dfs in particular load balancing i.e. 1) How does it load balance? Is it some sort of round robin? 2) Is there a limit to the number of servers that can used in the load balance? 3) How many requests per

load balancing causes authentication problems?
We are currently using iproute2 to perform a round robin type load balancing. ip route add default proto static scope global nexthop via XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX dev eth0 weight 1 nexthop via XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX dev eth1 weight 1 nexthop via XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX dev eth2 weight 1 >From my understanding this is destination based load balancing. is round-robin on interface aliases possible?
Hello, I''m new to the list and iproute2 itself. I was searching for a way to simultaneously use several IPs on the *same network interface* for outbound traffic. Let me explain: I have eth0 interface to which I set 2 IP addresses; 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2. Then I want to connect to Internet through 192.168.0.254 gateway using round-robin between those 2 addresses. The iproute2

Routing Load balancing and traffic shaping through 2 ISP links
Hello, I started off by reading the Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control Howto, then searched a bit around the web. I see many documents discussing these matters with kernel 2.2.x but they are quite old, something around 1998-2000. I have some questions but I might as well start by exposing my setup to clarify things. I have a couple of internet links: a leased line of 256kbit/s and an

Round Robin SIP peers?
Hi all, I have a cheapskate customer whom wants to leverage some cheap all-you-can-eat VoIP connections rather than pay for a per minute provider. On the inbound side I think I have a solution in that I can activate the "call forward on busy" option with his provider (some noname white label house) but how do I balance his outgoing minutes? Is there some way that I can set up a round

Load Balancing over 2 E1 Lines
Hi @ all, i set a server to a costumer of mine with a TE207P for use with 2 E1 Lines. I set them together into one group in zaptel/zapata.conf The point is now, the customer has a free-volumina of 60k minutes per month, per line. How can i make a kind of load balancing, that both lines will be trafficed the same way ? I read something about DIAL(Zap/r1/.) for using round robin, and
