winbind errors and panics
Hi,
I'm setting up a Samba AD member server on CentOS 6. Everything seems to
work, except that Windows users don't get automatically created in the
idmap backend (which is an LDAP tree, btw).
I do get the following errors in the winbind logging:
[2012/01/26 13:04:20.634990, 1]
winbindd/idmap_ldap.c:193(verify_idpool)

Domain admin privileges: a strange bug in Samba?
I was in the process of setting up a new Samba 3.5.4 PDC with LDAP
backend, over CentOS 5.5, when I came across a very strange behavior.
After executing the smbladp-populate script, I was trying to grant the
needed privileges to the group "Domain Admins" in order no to use "root"
to manage the Windows domain. After successfully granting rights to the

smbd PANIC starting PAM
Happened to be tail'ing <machine>.log during a login session from XP
client and notice the PANIC in the output. Login proceeded as usual(?)
so the following snippet of the log is just informational to the
developers. Let me know if you need additional info.

Trouble with idmap_ldap in 3.3.6
Hello everyone,
We've been running Samba for years, and with the exception of IDMAP,
we've been very happy. Well, now we have a real need to keep this
information in a shared DB, so I'm trying to set up the idmap_ldap plugin.
I *think* I have lookups working correctly-- at least, I can see that
Samba is contacting the LDAP directory. But since there's nothing

Error when trying to print with point and print installed drivers
I have an Ubuntu Sever 9.10 setup running Samba as a PDC for a bunch of
Windows clients.
Everything is functioning perfectly except for the point and print delivery
of printer drivers.
I have tested this with Ubuntu 9.10's Samba (3.4.0) and two of the Debian
Samba packages (3.4.3 and 3.4.5). All seem to demonstrate the same problem.
*What works:*
Adding a printer and manually installing the

Re: Intermittent "internal error: signal 11" with 3.0.24
Hi all
Follow up to this post, as it didn't seem to go through the
first time. We have a common problem occurring with our
Samba setups. We run 3 (identical) processing environments
that each contain a Samba host sharing approx .5TB of data
to 6 Wintel machines.
Normally these hosts operate fine, though we intermittently
experience a Samba panic (intermittent = every 2-3 days) as
per below.

Samba + Quickbooks Idle Crash
I have a samba server running on ubuntu 9.10 with windows (both Xp and
vista) clients running quickbooks (accounting software).
Quickbooks can connect to the samba server and get access to the data
files with no problems, if the secretary uses quickbooks continuously
there is never a problem the system works for hours on end. However if the
secretary leaves the software running but doing nothing

No access check deleting printer drivers
Hello list!
On all my samba installations (3.0.20b) I can delete all unused printer
drivers with rpcclient regardless which user name or password i use.
Is this a general feature or might it depend on my settings?
Thanks,
Martin

I have a serous problem.
I have for some time now tried to get an SAMBA based Domain Controller
working.
I have tried with OpenLDAP and tdbsam as backend, but I get the same
error every time.
I wood prefer to use LDAP as my backend.
I have read tons of how-to SAMBA + LDAP, but non of the seams to work
for my, is there someone that maybe can see what I have done rung in
my config.?

idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains?
In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child
domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to
the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain.
When attempting to lookup a user (wbinfo -i 'NAU\car3') that only exists
