[3.0.28,1/smb.conf] Can't hide dot files
Hello I set up Samba 3.0.28,1 on a FreeBSD 6.3 host. I'd like users _not_ to see the hidden dot files in directories, but "hide dot files" doesn't work, no matter whether I put it in [global] or [homes]: ====== [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP netbios name = Samba hosts allow = 192.168.0. 127. log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m max log size = 50 socket options = SO_RCVBUF=8192

Trying to mount with minimalist smb.conf
I am trying to mount a share on a remote machine using a miminal smb.conf as suggested in the Samba HOWTO. Nmbd and smbd are running on the target machine. The calling machine (server?) has the name of the target (linda2) in /etc/smbshares. When I try to mount I get the error message: Got a positive name query response from 127.0.0.1 ( 192.168.0.4 ) Connecting to 192.168.0.4 at port 445

Hi all, I've trying to use multiple password servers in my smb.conf. I'm using net utility for authenticating to a AD server. The behavious I see on 3.0.4 version of net utility is as following: 1: It tries to connect to first password server. 2: If first password server is down, it keeps on retrying for 3 min. 3: After three minutes, it tries second password server. 4: If second

I have a samba server at ip address aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd I can connect to it from clients on subnets aaa.bbb.eee. and aaa.bbb.fff. I can't connect to it from clients on ggg.hhh. smb.conf has hosts deny = all hosts allow = localhost, aaa.bbb., ggg.hhh. The client can successfully 'ping mysambaserver' (resolves to aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd). Doing 'net view \\mysambaserver' fails with

sip.conf and SIP client host= not recognized in some cases
I am seeing an issue with getting certain sip devices to be recognized as defined SIP clients host= in the sip.conf and the only deference that I can find btw sources that work and don't work is that devices that send packets with an Initial Via header of themselves appears to work and pick the context correctly but those that don't have the Via just get dropped in the context of the

Problem with multiple ADSL lines
Hi all, I have managed to setup a Fedora 7 box with 3 ethernet cards and two ADSL modem/routers from different suppliers as LARTC recommends. I am able to direct traffic for specific internal IPs either to one or the other ADSL line. However, I am faced with two problems I am struggling for the solution: 1. I have opened a few ports on the ADSL router/firewalls to talk to internal hosts; say when

Why does simple smb.conf demand password?
I am trying to setup a simple Samba server using the instructions in the O'Reilly book "Using Samba" first edition on a Slackware 9.1 system which uses Samba 2.2.8a. The windows machine uses windows 98SE. The instructions under Server Configuration starting page 93 and Disk Share Configuration starting page 96 had me setup a very simple smb.conf which should then appear in Network

IAX NOTICE and WARNING messages
Hello, Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday! We setup two asterisk servers (From CVS on Wednesday) and set up IAX between the two. Right now they both reside on a switch with a static 192.168.0.x IP address. The first Server is .5 and the second is .30. Our dialplan seems to be working, however on the console we get a flurry of NOTICE and WARNING messages. NOTICE[1116941120]: File
