Is there a specific way of doing the smb.conf to make windows7 join the domain? was able to make windows7 join in one instance but when is not successful in logging into the domain using a domain user and also cannot add a domain user to the local machine. Help needed with Windows7 roaming files.
Hi all, We've been trying to setup/upgrade a samba PDC (version 3.56) with OpenLDAP as backend and roaming profiles for Windows7 (32bit) Clients. windows7 has no problem with login after applying the reg patches, however, it seems to always load a temporary profile as opposed to roaming one for users, no local profile is created. this has caused Outlook 2010 to function improperly

windows 7 machine account fails to authenticate against samba PDC
Hello all, I've added my windows7 client to the domain (samba running as pdc), having applied the registry changes identified here (http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7). Partial success - domain users can login and see shares etc, BUT: 1 - the registry settings in ntlogon/NTConfig.POL are not applied. Am I right in thinking that windows 7 ignores this policy? And if so I therefore

Windows7 and wide links
Hi All, I am using samba 3.5 on Synology NAS and I have just found out that I cannot copy from Windows7 large files (~100MB+) into a folder which is "under" a symbolic link on the samba server. The folder is on another volume than the original shared folder, therefore I am using "wide links=yes" in the settings. There is no problem when copying files from Linux or Mac machine.

I can no longer use TLS for Windows7 and Outlook
I currently use Ubuntu 20.04 with Dovecot 2.3.7.2 and OpenSSL 1.1.1f. A few months ago there was an update to all these systems and since then I've had to talk W7 and old Mac clients through disabling ports 993/995 with TLS enabled back to ports 143/110 without SSL or they could not pick up email. Thunderbird users (ie; me) were unaffected. Could anyone share a set of port 993/995 SSL

Samba 3.6.0 and Windows7 Client
Hello, I am currently trying to replace a 2003 AD Server with LDAP backed Samba3 acting as a PDC. Two days ago, Windows7 clients (that are on a different subnet) than the samba server were working well and I thought my understanding advances. Then, I started to learn how to integrate printers and suddenly I noticed that the Windows7 clients stopped working -- even with the working smb.conf that

Windows7 able to join Samba4-alpha12 domain, but unable to manage
Dear all, after switching from Samba4-alpha10 to -alpha12, it is no longer possible to manage user accounts via the RSAT on Windows 7 Professional. The program says that name information can't be retrieved, because the domain controller isn't configured properly (or the like, I read it in German). However, joining the domain and logging in with administrator or simple user account is
