Simple group question...‏
Hi, This works for me ,you can try. After join computer to domain then log on to Windows Xp with local administrator account and go to control panel -> addusers (select account from your domain) -> Grant access level to your domain account as "Administrator". Or you can use "net" command to do this. Open a cmd shell, then execute: C:\> net localgroup

Simple group question...
New to this windows domain stuff, sorry ( at my age learning new stuff can take a while ). I've set up a domain and joined a couple of XP workstations to is and all is fine. What I want to do now is to ensure that the users of these PCs still have administrative rights on their PC's. Can anyone show me the basics / point me to a good guide on how to do this??? TIA, Steve -- Steve

upgrade to 3.3 on debian lenny.
Does anyone have experience with the upgrade from 3.2 ( in lenny core ) to the samba provided 3.3 debian packages? Specifically, I'm looking for a list of gotchas in this process, as I'm short on machines I can use as test servers... Windows 7 + Samba 3.5.6 = abject misery...
Can anyone help with this? I set it all up a few months ago, the samba side being standard upgrades via debian - configured as a PDC, and the windows 7 clients being clean installs, with the standard lanmanworkstation regedits done. They've been working fine since then, but have now started failing, instead raising the error message 'The trust relationship between this work station and

changing the character set.
Hi list, I've set up a simple domain providing shared disk space to a small company. As an extension of this, I've connected satellite office via openvpn, and am mounting a chare on that site over cifs, and backing it up on to the main domain storage. This remote share is on windows XP, and it's throwing up a couple of errors due to incompatible wide characters - cp: cannot create

problems with samba as pdc.
This is a really weird one. To the ( XP Pro ) client, I can join the domain, but can never log in. I've looked all over for a troubleshooting guide, but none have found the problem. Help!!! System: samba 3.3.4 on 64 bit debian lenny patched to current. Gigabit lan environment. When Joining the domain ( over an openvpn connection ), the client log shows: [2009/05/07 09:52:08, 0]

Constrain slope in segmented package
Hello, I'm currently using the segmented package of M.R. Muggeo to fit a two-slope segmented regression. I would like to constrain a null-left-slope, but I cannot make it. I followed the explanations of the package (http://dssm.unipa.it/vmuggeo/segmentedRnews.pdf) to write the following code : fit.glm <- glm(y~x) fit.seg <- segmented(fit.glm, seg.Z=~x,psi=0.3) fit.glm

Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies? The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that

Tweaks for 0.2
I can make these changes tonight, but if somebody else could do it that would be swell too. 1) Validators currently do not work for the dumbest reason ever... the "Clone" method in wxRbValidator needs to be changed to: virtual wxObject* Clone() const; while in there, I think the validator methods need to be renamed to proper ''wxruby'' things ("validate"

Performance questions/tweaks on Gluster
I've now got Gluster 3.04 up and running on my servers. Setup: gluster1 - back end file server gluster2 - ditto. Redundant. These are setup with the --raid 1 option app1 - my app server mounts /data/export on /home app2 - ditto The appropriate conf files are attached. My simple test involves reading an input file and writing it to the Gluster home versus local /tmp. These tests were

No text after x.org tweaks involving Intel 945 chipset,
Hi all, Before you read any further, I have been through the posts available on the Internet about missing text in application/winecfg, so I've made sure msfonts are installed, there are fonts in the drive_c/windows/Fonts directory & the .reg file is pointing to one which is in there. Everything was working fine until I updated my graphics so the pretty Ubuntu effects would work

tcp/ip stack tweaks
Outside of Asterisk - is their anything a linux admin can do to optimize or speed network traffic to/from the pbx to sip phones? I'm looking for some options in /proc Since Asterisks is a network bound/sensetive app I'd start their. I'm running RH9. Optimizations for other linux and unix distro welcome aswell.

Wine Tweaks
I did a forum search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Is there a full wine tweak list? I am looking mostly for 'registry' tweaks and/or full terminal commands for tweaking wine. I am sure I have it all installed correctly, but I am running into some errors playing game and would like to start with editing wine.

Tinderbox tweaks
I've tweaked the tinderbox build scripts so that they'll automatically try to build and use a private copy of zlib if it doesn't seem to be installed and to build and test the Search::Xapian perl bindings: http://www.oligarchy.co.uk/tinderbox/xapian/status.html There are still a few kinks to sort out, but hopefully this can help us catch any portability issues before the release.
