regarding ssl certificates
Excuse dopey question.
I'm not exactly clear about certificates.
Apache2 default install has this snake oil certificate
Can make a new one for apache
Can make one for dovecot
Can make one for ssl
Is there supposed to be the one (self signed ) certificate pair in one
place for the machine that each process hands out ?
Can they be moved to another machine ?

rbind-ing numeric matrices
Good morning,
I'm running into trouble rbind-ing numeric matrices with differing numbers
of rows. In particular, there seem to be issues whenever a one-row numeric
matrix is involved.
Assume A is a numeric matrix with 1 row and Y columns and B is a numeric
matrix with X rows and Y columns. Let C be the result of rbinding A and B.
Then C is a numeric matrix with X + 1 rows and Y columns, only

My apologies for those are going to get this email twice. I posted it

Rails newbie here so forgive the question if the answer is ridiculously
obvious.

Tripplite Smart1200LCD and Debian
Hey all,
I am trying to use NUT for a Tripplite Smart1200 LCD on a fresh copy of Debian 6.0.2.1. I installed NUT version 2.4.3 and I have pored through pages and pages of other posts, but for the life of me I can not get it to recognize the Tripplite. I know its an 09ae:2009 device and I've tried to add a rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/52-nut-usbups.rules as according to some posts, but to no

Trust between Samba PDC and AD domain
I've pored through the documentation, wiki, lists, etc, and I can't seem
to come to a concise conclusion on how to accomplish this.
My specific scenario is the following.
I have a samba PDC domain called domainA, and an AD domain called
domainB. domainA and domainB are different named domains, and they each
authenticate logins and credentials on their own turf.
The users on domainA

Mounts on Mac, Linux but not Win98 - bad password
I am trying to set up Samba for the very first time in my life on a SlackWare
Linux 7.1 system. I'm using kernel 2.4.2, and the Samba 2.0.7 that comes
precompiled with Slackware 7.
I'm only moderately clueful at this point, but I have experience with other
Linux and networking stuff. I can build Samba from sources if you think that
would help.
I ran through the diagnostic tests given

Oddity: I seem to have a variable in a dataframe that doesn't show in colnames() - can anyone advise?
I may be being dopey, I surely am, but I'm baffled by this. I've been
working, on and off for a few days in R version 2.13.0 (2011-04-13)
i386-pc-mingw32/i386 (32-bit) working it through ESS.
I've got a dataframe created a couple of days back, during the session:

Bug#446708: xen-utils-common: occasional failures in "xm list"
Package: xen-utils-common
Severity: minor
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
During a domU state transition (at least on domU shutdown), "xm list"
seems to occasionally fail. This is only intermittent, but it could
cause problems if there are automated tools (or unaware humans)
inspecting the output or return codes of "xm list". here's a recent
transcript (the numbers preceding the bash

[LLVMdev] Introducing myself, and Java project.
You probably want to sit down and have a long talk with Jeroen Frijters, the
principal behind the IKVM project.
Note that you will have to deal with ClassLoaders at some level, regardless
of what you'd prefer.

Classic Upgrade: Unable to enumerate group memberships
Hello. I'm using Version 4.0.8-SerNet-Ubuntu-5.precise (Also, a heads up on
this release; the folder /var/run/samba must be created upon reboot. When
starting Samba I get this error:
ERROR: can't open /var/run/samba/samba.pid: Error was No such file or

So anyway, when trying to do a classic upgrade/migration in order to
preserve authentication information on a new domain. After

Hi,
So this question means you need to do some more reading about all SSL/TLS
services.

methods function
Hi everyone,
I've noticed that the methods function is incomplete. The obvious
example is if I write a function "$.foo", it is not picked up by
methods:

> "$<-.foo" <- function(object, name, value) {assign(name, value, envir=object[[1]]); object}

how to get your controller to close a browser popup window
While editing a record I need to have a link to create a new record in
another scaffold.
I''ve done this by using a popup window
<%= link_to("Add new Person", "/person/new", :popup => [''window_name'',
''width=600,height=600'']) %>
It all works great - but when the save is done I want to kill the popup
window.

Problem with directors and Ruby
I''ve tried to distill this sample down to its smallest portion. The
problem is that the function included in the .i file can take optional
arguments, most of which are output only, except the last one, which is
input only. My target language is Ruby. When SWIG produces the wrapper
for this the input parameter''s name and type gets confused with the
