samba 3.0.22 and OS/2 connectivity
Hi All
I have a Linksys NSLU2 device which is used to hook USB2 drives upto my
network as network attached storage.
The Linksys firmware upgrade for this device includes samba 3.0.11 which
is a non-starter regarding OS/2 connectivity.
There is an alternative firmware based on the Linksys firmware called
Unslung from http://www.nslu2-linux.org/
The Unslung firmware allows

read.data? without separator
Hello,
I have a problem with read.data. For example I have a file
# comment
1?0001010101
101010??1010
with comment on first line and data layout without separator. How I could
read data that each character\sign was in another column. It is trivial
probably, but I have no idea for it.
Thank's,
Kacper

pxelinux 2.11 unable to mount root fs
Hi,
I've been using PxeLinux to boot our Debian kernel successfully for
some time now. I recently increased the size of the ramdisk from about
484 MBs to 517 MBs and encountered the following error during bootup:

kerberos + winbind + AD authentication for samba 4 domain member
Hello,
Thank You for fast response. I'm glad that it's a mistake somewhere on
my side, it means it will work when I fix it :)
Ok, first of all:
Everything is on centos 7.4
All config files will be below, but to start off: behaviour is stranger
than I thought, but there is a pattern:

Failed to find DC in keytab, gpupdate fails
Try verifying kvno from the client that gives the error message. That
kvno = 2 for dc$ must've come from somewhere. You can also double check
e.g. via ADUC ldap attributes of the dc$: lastpwdset and kvno. If kvno
is definately 1 that means that client connecting has some error, if
it's 2, than it means that dc has outdated keytab. And if it's the
former, than I really am not sure

Failed to find DC in keytab, gpupdate fails
what is the output of "kvno dc.domain.net.pl"? There seems to be
mismatch kvno of the secrets keytab, and what is client expecting (kvno
2). Kvno increments by 1 for every password change. Was there by any
chance password change for the dc$ account and keytab was not recreated?
If You made some upgrades, maybe during process You for example rejoined

OT: Home NAS device
I am looking for something that I can hack away like a NSLU2 but that thing only has one disc
and worst of all its 100m interface. Anyone know of a device you can load Linux on that has
maybe 2 discs like a NAS200 with a gig nic? I need a quiet device to act as a tftp-dhcp/web/dns
system.
I thought of just building one from a new Soekris board, or even a mini itx but hope there was
something

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
Clearly this is some kind of bug. Can you submit a bug report or should I?
Also can you elaborate why it's bad practice to create files/folders as a
local Unix user/group on a Samba DC?

samba file server - sediskoperatorprivilege not being honored
Hello,
I've been setting up new file server using samba 4.8.3 (centos 7 RPM),
as samba 4 AD member server using my earlier smb.conf when I realised
that I was previously somewhat circumventing the
SeDiskOperatorPrivilege by using "admin users map" to SAMDOM\Domain
admins" parameter in smb.conf.
I decided to change my smb.conf and setup shares following samba wiki.

samba 4.8 client and 4.9 AD DC: Reducing LDAP page size from 1000 to 500 due to IO_TIMEOUT
Hello,
I have an issue as stated in topic. My samba 4.8.3 file server, which is AD
member frequently shows winbind errors (pasted below). From user
perspective it seems to work fine, but I'm worried that I have something
misconfigured and in the long run, I might run into some errors.
My AD DC are running on samba 4.9.x (two of them), compiled from source
with BIND as DNS backend (running on

The problem is each time the phone rings I can hear/be heard 50% of the time.
Any suggestion on what to look for.

Redirecting the computer container doesn't work in Samba 4.8.5
Hello,
Changing "CN=Computers" to another OU doesn't seem to work correctly
in Samba 4.8.5. Running redircmp or changing the wellKnownObject
AA312825768811D1ADED00C04FD8D5CD to another OU worked in Samba 4.4 but
now the Windows clients don't seem to respect that entry. They instead
try to create their computer object under "CN=Computers" which they no

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
The same thing happen if the group on a file is wheel or any other unix
group. I also now observed that this also happens to unix users that are
not mapped in idmap.ldb.
For example:
# useradd myunixuser
# touch myfile
# chown myunixuser myfile
# chgrp SAMDOM\sambauser myfile
alos crashes explorer.

By primary group I mean the group that is set by chgrp. that is the group
returned after the pound key (#) from getfacl. In other words the Unix
group and not the one managed by ACLs.

Samba 4.11 "Stale file handle"
Hello,
After upgrading to Samba 4.11 (from 4.10) I noticed that python
scripts using tempfile.mkstemp fail when run against samba cifs
mounts. Before I submit a bug report, could someone else try this out
so it's not just my setup?
How to reproduce:
1. Mount a Samba 4.11 share using the mount command: mount
//server1/share /tmp/share1
2. Run python script that is using mkstemp:

samba AD - bind - deleted DNS entries are not removed completely
Hello,
I've posted about this issue some time ago, but I maybe didn't explain
myself enough and/or didn't supply enough information.
My setup is centos 7.5 samba 4.8.4 AD DCwith BIND as dns backend.
I noticed that some windows clients stopped doing secure dns dynamic
updates because of insufficient rights error.
Upon further digging I realized that all of the entries, that were
