Partition not recognized by mount
Hi, somehow after a power failure i can't mount my ext3 partition :( mount /dev/hdd2 /mnt/gentoo/ mount: you must specify the filesystem type fdisk /dev/hdd The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 484521. There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024, and could in certain setups cause problems with: 1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO) 2)

udev & libvolume packages not updating
Hi all, CentOS 5.2, not yet updated to 5.3. Based on the alert on udev, I attempted to update udev and libvolume packages with the following result. A check of what's currently on the system reveals udev-095-14.19.el5 which I believe to be the affected version. Is it just that it hasn't rolled out to all the mirrors yet? Thanks in advance, -Ray [root at wh01]# yum clean all

Combining NFS and Samaba - file locking
I have a network where we have a main site with a PDC, and two remote sites with BDCs. The backend is LDAP which is slaved to the remote sites, Samba is 2.2.8a, the main server is part of the Suse Linux OpeneXchange Server, the other two servers are Suse Standard Server 8. What I wanted to do was to have users at the various sites map one drive from their 'local' server. Behind the

connection to IPC$ denied due to security descriptor
Hey all, I have a fileserver running Debian Etch and Samba 3.0.24 that I use to serve media and private home directories. I have a couple roommates, and therefore have a couple accounts on the box for those users. I had everything working perfectly until last week when my system drive took a crap. I've reinstalled everything exactly the same (I think?) but now I am having problems with
