Winbind & idmap_ad plugin: Debian kerberos-related problems fixed
Slowly making progress with Active Directory integration. I have Samba 3.0.2 as an ADS member, and I can see shares, including user home directories. My linux boxes run Debian unstable, and use the PAM and NSS LDAP backends, against an Active Directory on Windows 2000 SP4, using the MS Services For Unix V2.0 schema updates. PAM-authenticated login, ssh etc. all work fine, although I did have to

tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
Hi, I can't get access to any shares when running "smbclient //DUCK/test -U Dominic". I'm getting the message: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME I'm pretty sure it's authenticating properly as it says "session setup ok" in the debug output. If I enter the wrong password I get: "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE" I'm

Hi, I am in dire need of some help. I have no problems connecting to shares with my W95/98 clients, but big problems with W2K. The same username / password is used on both the PC and SAMBA (and NIS - I am using Soalris 2.7 for my SAMBA server). When I try to connect to a share from the W2K client, I get the message "Access Denied". I have looked set nmbd / smbd to run at debug level 9

Specified user does not exist. Huh?!
Ok folks I?m at my wit?s end here as I cannot seem to join the domain I setup under Samba version 3.0.7. Every time I try and join the domain with a user that has the power to add a machine to the domain it just says that the user does not exist. This happens with all accounts which I have specified in the smb.conf file as a user that can do this function. I have added those users via smbpasswd ?a

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi, based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous. Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange errors: When I try to launch an EXE from

Trouble Creating Folders
Greetings, I am running 2.2.7a as a domain controller on RH 8.0 When I attempt to create a folder I get the following "warning" "You may not be able to access the files created in the folder .... Do you want to continue?" If I continue everything goes file (the folder is created and I can access it). I find a file in there called TESTDIR.TMP. I thought it may have been a

large file pre-allocation causing Windows error
I'm trying to copy a 400 MB file from a Windows 98 host to a FreeBSD 4.5 Samba server providing access to a FAT32 filesystem. I've got "strict allocate = no", but from what I can see with debug set to 10, it is doing a ftruncate which takes about 50 seconds to complete. It appears that Windows gets impatient and generates an error (while Samba is still waiting for the

Win2K3 ADS and Samba 3.0.1: Cannot access shares even with IP
Regarding the problem where you cannot view shares using the hostname (netbios) of the server, but can if you use the IP address: I can view my Samba shares from a Win2000 server using the IP, but I cannot access them. Double-clicking on the shares in Windows Explorer results in the following error: '\\<ipaddr>\Share is not accessible. The network name cannot be found.' The smbd

Continuence on that strange loglevel-bug.
In addition to my last mail, sent yesterday. I stumbled across that bug today again, it seems like I can read fine from the disks on the machine with samba but not write with it. In my log (loglevel 10) this appeared when I tried copying a file from a windows box to a samba share: [2002/09/23 11:53:34, 5] lib/util.c:show_msg(291) smb_bcc=5 [2002/09/23 11:53:34, 10] lib/util.c:dump_data(1484)

Can not connect to share "NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME"
I have Suse 9.1 + Samba 3.0.9 + winbind joined to a Windows 2000 AD domain "MyCompany". Yesterday for some unknown reason (appears to be Win2K issue) connections to Samba and the ability to browse the domain "MyCompany" from Win2K/XP workstations failed but connections to the public share offered by the Win2K server were OK. Also, all Win98 workstations and were unable to
