Samba+ADS+groups>32 = broken Samba
I've got a strange problem with certain Active Directory user accounts that are members of more than 32 groups. It seems that Samba (or winbind?) completely ignores extended groups if it crosses over 32 groups. This seems to be a Samba specific issue; * When the AD user is logs in via ssh, it can perform writes to the resource; the same user browsing via Samba will get an "Access

Fwd: Follow Up - Problem with groups & joining domain.- LDAP
Follow up to original post. If I created local groups and users in /etc/passwd & /etc/groups I get farther along. For instance, if I have a Samba PDC with LDAP basically like I listed in my post. If I browse from a w2k pro box to the samba server without the workstation having joined the domain, I can authenticate to the samba server with a user who is not in /etc/passwd but is in LDAP. So

Upgraded from 3.0.9 -> 3.0.21b - Now adding machines aproblem
Yes, I had a similar problem when I upgraded from 3.0.9 -> 3.0.21b. After upgrading I could not add machines. It would find the PDC and then prompt me for a user/password, I would enter it and I got user not found error message. If I typed the password incorrect then I would get Username/Password incorrect error message. My logs showed that I was authenticating OK. So only thing I could think

Samba as standalone server & problems with saving documents
Hi... I wanna use samba 3.0.28 (on FreeBSD 7.0) machine just to serve some shares with different content. We have several users, and access to a share should be managed by the unix group a user is in. so if the user is a member of the group 'business' he has access to a share called business. Every users has his primary group set to 'users'. I implemented that for several groups:
