Hi I'm using a Samba 2.2.5-1 PDC on a RH 7.2 everything works fine !! Now I'd like to set up a BDC so, following the Samba-BDC-Howto I've: - synced /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/group /etc/samba/smbpasswd - imported the SID with the -S option of the smbpasswd from PDC - duplicated the shares between PDC and BDC - modified the master domain parameter on the BDC to NO But if I shut down

Hi team, I'm dealing with AS/U as a member server on a Samba 3.0.20 PDC. Jonction seems ok, and from the member server I can see PDC's shares (with net view) and authenticate user (with net logon user passwd /domain:domainname). On the other side, I fell into timeout when running smbclient -L member from the PDC. Here is a log.nmbd loglevel 10 from PDC as there is no other log

Another problem with Win2k logins...
Hi all, After recovering the former SID that I hadn't had in mind while changing the Linux distro (thanks to Thomas for his help), now I still have some problems. I can't still get any user to login but the ones that must be in cache in the clients (thanks again Thomas). So, I'll give you the logs to see if anybody detects something strange... The users can perform a 'smbclient -L

Hi everyone, upon login windows reports: "Windows cannot create profile directory \\fw\profiles\leon.pds. You will be logged on with a local profile only. Changes to the profile will not be propagated to the server." Then it says: "Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make..." looked all over now, tested variations

XP logins
Hi all, today happened very strange thing to me. I'm running Samba 3.0.1 on Debian. Today users called me that machines with XP has problems to work on the network. Samba and DOS
Greetings, Is there any way to get Samba to interact with MS-DOS? I am attempting to turn a Linux box into a VPN router for DOS clients. What I need to know is, can I get a CIFS protocol stack for MS-DOS, is a TCP/IP stack sufficient, are there any other solutions anyone knows about? Thank You. intermitent domain logon failures
I have an issue where at odd times, maybe after 3 days, maybe after a week, people suddenly cant do domain logons. Unfortunately the machine is 50km away so i'm sure theres more details I can glean once I can interogate the users a bit more. Things I have noticed: Anyone currently logged in can still work fine. A restart of samba fixes the issue (till it hapens next). ps ax shows smbd and

Can join domain; can't logon
I had a problem similar to my current one a week or so ago, and I was encouraged to upgrade from Samba 2.2.9 to 3.0.7, which I did. Now that I've completed that nightmare, the problem I initially set out to fix is still there, just different. Namely: I am trying to set up Samba 3.0.7 on a SuSE 9.1 box as an LDAP PDC whose only job will be authentication. Our LDAP server is on a separate

spurious domian login problems
We have a few win9x workstations, that have spurious login problems. They get the message: No domain server was available to validate your password you may not be able to gain access to some network resources. The passwords are definetly correct and the problem will sometimes disappear after 5 - 10 retries, but almost always after a full restart of the win9x PC, very occasionally it takes as

Invalid auth info 68 or level 5 on schannel only prior to
logins Reply-To: I've sourced the groups, but haven't had any success with solving this problem. Here are the details: I have a debian/testing system running samba 3.0.0beta2-1. It was working fine with the 2.x series, until I upgraded to 3.0. The debian server (al) is a PDC for a small NT domain (isabela) with three workstations, all running win2k pro. All but one work fine

Slow performance
I have been fighting this problem for months now. My performance under Samba and XP has ben umbearable. The scenario is running Samba 2.2.7a under SuSE 8.0 as a PDC. The XP machine logs onto Samba and the roaming profiles are downloaded then stops for 15 minutes or so. The network is verified 100Meg full-duplex, FTP transfers between the machines are robust and so no problems in connectivity. Any

Win2k clients problem after updating system
Hello all samba users and programmers, Since I changed my system and reinstalled samba funny things happen in my net. I used to work with a Gentoo system and now I've got installed a Knoppix 3.2 Debian, but by now I don't think it's interesting for the problem I've got. What I did was: - install samba 3.0.0-final - copy the old smb.conf file to the path in the new system

hi list, i try since weeks to authenticate my linux-clients against my samba-server. This works very fine with 2 windoze-cliens. but i still cannot authenticate with my linux-clients. i am @office now, thats wy i ask instead to test: i heard, winbind is used to authenticate linux-clients against the samba-server. the wbinfo -u gives me back: DOMAIN-user (i use the minus as separator) so i
