One way Samba
I am running Samba 2:3.3.2 on a Kubuntu 9.04 Linux box. With the configuration file below the linux box can see and retrieve shared files on all 5 of my windows boxes. However, none of the windows boxes can see the linux shares as they are defined in the smb.conf below. The linux box shows up in the windows network neighborhood as Mercury1 but when I try to open it to show the shares I get the

The server is running on Ubuntu (latest version) and Samba 3.2.3. The symptoms are this. I browse to the server via \\name or \\IP_address. I then select a share, map network share to say z:/ It will usually prompt me for authentication just

Both the client and jimmy are members of the same windows AD domain. The problem is that jimmy does not come up on the client's "Network discovery" window. Even if I type jimmy's IP address \\IP on the

Cannot see linux machines from XP
I'll try to spell out the problem as best I can. There are three computers on a LAN, "ADS1", "ADS2" and "DRS2". ADS1 and ADS2 run samba-3.5.8-76.fc14.i686 under Fedora 14. DRS2 runs Windows XP professional, SP3. Each of them can successfully ping all the others by name. They are all in the same WORKGROUP (GAMMA5). The Fedora machines (ADS1, ADS2) can see all

I cannot see my Linux box running Samba to print or access files. The output of "smbclient -U% -L localhost" seems to indicate I should see one share and one printer: (the ...0.250 ip address is for my DSL connection, the ...0.2 is for my LAN) added interface ip=192.168.0.250 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 added interface ip=192.168.0.2 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0

callers in queue passed to agents who accept only one call at a time
I have a queue I configured as "strict" and a cron script I use to QueueAdd and QueueRemove agents according to my company's requirements. Usually I have 2 or 3 agents at a time and the ring strategy is ringall. These agents use non-open-source Windows softphones that do not let you configure it so that if they're on the phone, a second call will be rejected (agent busy).

XP can see Linux but Win98 can't
Dear Samba List: Thx in advance for all help that can be provided. I have set up a samba server on a RedHat 8.0 box, and I know I've got it configured correctly, because I can do everything I would ever want to do with it with a networked Windows XP laptop. However, a third and fourth machine, both running 98SE, also on the network, cannot see the server, no matter what I try. These two

Samba 3 trusting Windows 2003 (Native Mode)
I have the following situation: Windows XP (SP2) clients connected to a Samba 3 PDC (3.0.7-2.FC2) on the domain "MNET". Also a separate Windows 2003 AD domain "SCH" (using Native Mode). I want to allow users in the AD domain "SCH" to logon to that domain from the XP clients by using their existing credentials and simply choosing the SCH domain in the XP logon
