Samba4 DC with Secondary Questions
Hello all.
I am currently working on setting an S4 domain to replace our aging samba 3
setup. We have found many answers on the net, in various documentation,
but when it comes to setting up beyond one node documentation becomes a
little thinner.
We are setting up a Primary DC with AD, using BIND9_DLZ, also serving dhcp
from Primary, and we want to setup a Secondary that is both a

Samba4 DC with Secondary Questions
Rowland, thank you for the reply.
I must have misstated. We have successfully setup our first DC. It works
great with DHCP and BIND9_DLZ and updates nicely as it is designed to,
kerberos and all.
The question is about the second server. Perhaps MY understanding of what
I have read on the samba wiki, and others, is different than actual
reality. http://bit.ly/2r3IOjt ;)

Windows PE booting without chainloading ipxe
Adding an option for initrdfile= boot argument to be ignored by wimboot worked just fine.
They can add this patch, which is probably most sane, or syslinux could add the INITRDFILE configuration option instead of having to append the option for linux.c32

To discard... or not to discard...
Hi,
I just recently read a post about SSD triming (discard vs fstrim):
?http://www.howtogeek.com/176978/ubuntu-doesnt-trim-ssds-by-default-why-not-and-how-to-enable-it-yourself/So far I used discard on all my SSDs.
Now I am wondering if it is really worth it to switch them all to a crontabed fstrim...
Anyone made the switch yet?
Thx,
JD

Samba and ACLs
Hello,
fist of all I'd like to thank all samba team for the great job it is doing:
thanks very much to samba team!
We are running a very large file server (nearly 300 users) based on
Linux-XFS filesystem and SAMBA 2.2.1a.
We are controlling XFS ACLs through WinNT/2K tool (right click, properties,
security, permissions).
We are not using winbind. We are using SECURITY=DOMAIN. The netbios

syslinux -> Windows 2008R2
Hello,
I'm trying to use a current Syslinux setup, that is working well for
service linux based distros, to serve up recent Windows server installs.
As I'm new here I'm reluctant to make any changes to the environment unless
I've exhausted the current options.
We are running Syslinux 3.71 on a Gentoo server and all the DHCP and tftpd
are "working as they should".

Backup Exchange mailboxes using rsync
Hi all,
Has anyone got any advice on the best way to backup Exchange mailboxes
(Exchange 5.5) running on a Windows 2000 server? We already use rsync on
a number of other Windows boxes for general file backup.
I've read that even if you get backups of the Exchange mailbox files,
then it's really tricky to get the mailboxes back into Exchange if the
server dies. Anyone got any tips on

Digium TE410P LED problem
Has anyone else experienced a problem with the LED for span 1 on a TE410P
or TE405P?
I had a TE410P on which the span 1 LED would not light red, but once the
span was connected, it did correctly light green.
I RMAed the board to our UK distrbutor and received a replacement. However,
the replacement board displayed the same problem!
Wondering if it was related to the computer I was putting it

[3.6.6] nmbd reachable on 0.0.0.0: Safe?
Hello
I'm running Samba 3.6.6 on a Linux host on a LAN connected to the Net, with
my ADSL modem acting as firewall/router so as to keep local services like
Samba unaccessible from the Net.
Still, I wanted to check if it's safe to have nmbd reachable from 0.0.0.0 on

About Tinn-R
Hi everybody!!
I don`t know if it is correct to make a question about R and Tinn-R in this mailing-list, but I need some help with a problem for which I don't find a solution anywhere.
I have Tinn-R 2.3.5.2 in my notebook and I always used it with no problems, until a few days ago when this signs appears everytime I start the programme:

Netfilter fails to filter traffic from a netblock?
Hi Everyone,
We rent a CentOS 7 VM from GoDaddy. We received a warning about
excessive cpu usage, and a threat to cancel our service. We tracked it
down to Apache and someone hammering our web server.
The offending host is 59.64.129.175. To err on the side of caution we
attempted to block the entire netblock. According to whois data,
that's 59.64.128.0-59.64.159.255.

chrony configuration for secondary samba DC
Hi
I'm running samba 4.7.6 on ubuntu 18.04 as (backup / secondary) domain
controller that joined to an Existing Active Directory (Windows 2012R2
server).
The question is about Time Synchronization across the domain.
How should I configure chrony v3.2 in order to provide time synchronization:
1. between main Windows DC and Samba DC
2. Between Samba DC and windows clients in case when
