admin users = user0 (how force admin permission?)
Hi folks :-)
in a samba share I've:
valid users = user0 user1 user2 user3
admin users = user0
If I write a new file by user0 (admin) this file has root permission:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root user0 131870 2010-08-06 15:35 20100806 name_of_file
can I force to have an user0 permission like this (maintening admin user
option in samba?):
-rw-r--r-- 1 user0 user0 131870 2010-08-06 15:35

imap-login crashes after upgrade to Dovecot 1.2.8 Linux 64-bit
Hi all,
We moved our Dovecot installation first of all to have all folders and
inboxes on NetApps via NFS (with indexes local) then from a physical
Solaris 8 4-way UltraSparc server running Dovecot 1.2.5 (32-bit) to a
virtualised Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit server with a single virtual processor
(in VMWare ESX 3.5) running Dovecot 1.2.8 (64-bit).
Since the change, many of our users have experienced

Unable to reregister samba server with Primary Domain Controller
Please forgive any stupidity in the following question. The admin who
maintained samba left recently and we (a bunch of programmers) are trying to
fix it.
We had a Solaris box called svr2, it provided samba and nfs services.
We bought a new computer called originally newsvr2.
We ported the samba settings across to newsvr2 - everything worked.
We swapped the hostname and IP addresses of svr2 and

Cannot rename/delete files from Windows client anymore
Hi,
I upgraded Samba from 3.0.26 to 3.3.2.
Now, users are unable to rename and delete files.
* Exception: Renaming/deleting works if the directory containing the
file has 777 permissions.
* Renaming/deleting does not work in directories with 775 permissions
even if the user is the owner of the directory AND the file AND is in
the respective owner groups.
* User management works via LDAP

something wrong:
gopher:~ # wbinfo -a user0%user0
plaintext password authentication failed
error code was NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO (0xc00000da)
error messsage was: NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO

Local lmtp proxy on backend server
Hi Aki,
I also tried with changing the original ldap source to svr2. Although
everywhere svr2 is configured, still mails keep being delivered locally
on svr1. Do I need to configure more than 20-lmtp.conf?
[@svr1 conf.d]# cat 20-lmtp.conf | grep -v '^#'
lmtp_proxy = yes
protocol lmtp {
# Space separated list of plugins to load (default is global

File permission (easy)
Hi all :-)
mount -t cifs //ip_server/tmp /home/share/tmp -o "username=xxx,password,xxx)
touch tmp.bak /home/share/tmp
touch: setting times of `home/share/tmp/tmp.bak': No such file or directory
(similarly I can only create a file/dir but I can't write on it, I can delete
file/dir)
I also tried to do:
echo 0 > /proc/fs/cifs/LinuxExtensionsEnabled
mount -t cifs //ip_server/tmp

Live migrate with virsh migrate
When I migrate a guest from svr1 to svr2 and shutdown the guest on svr2.
I cannot start it anymore because the xml is not there. How can I make
sure this xml is automatically stored so I can start the guest again on
svr2?

Bridged networking weirdness
Hi
I''ve got a (gentoo) box set up for xen, 2.6.21-xen kernel as per portage about
2 weeks ago. Already got all my guests set up and almost good to go, except
for very erratic networking issues. Networking on the domU''s does not always
work. I have set up two physical adapters, and bridged both (by use of the
modified network-bridge script from the archives) adapters for use

Non-matching linkedid on CDR Records [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Hi asterisk-users,
We have recently moved to the 13.x branch of Asterisk from 11.x, and we're trying to correlate CDR records from multiple-legs for billing purposes.
As part of this change we have added 'linkedid' to our CDR table schema in an attempt to join the multiple records into one billable record.
The call path can be simplified as (transport types in brackets):

IAX - newbie question
Dear all,
I've been taking my baby-steps toward setting up an Asterisk phone
system in my office, as also between my home and office (connected by DSL).
I'm have a rough time getting two * boxes talk IAX over a LAN. I don't
know what I am doing wrong, but am attaching my iax.conf and
extensions.conf on both the boxes. Does anyone see it?

Non-matching linkedid on CDR Records [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Hi all,
Just thought I'd update this thread in case anyone else is Googling trying to find out how to do this...
I found the solution to my problem to be to use the IAXVAR() function to pass the accountcode between the Asterisk boxen and update the CHANNEL(accountcode) with that variable.
Thanks to Richard @ Digium for the reply that clarified my misunderstanding.

You probably meant:

Samba 3 handles Linux permissions differently then Samba 2 ?
Hi,
we have a problem with permissions migrating from a custom 2.4 kernel Linux
distro with Samba 2.2.5 to OpenSuSE 10.3 (with samba 3.0.26).
We used to have directories like this (relative to the Samba share):
/root/dir0/dir1/dir2/dir3/userdir1-1/userdir1-2
'root' and all it's parent directories have '0755' Linux permission.
dir0-dir3 all have '0711' permissions

Local lmtp proxy on backend server
I am staring constantly at the same logs, this is what I get from
dovecot[1]. Sendmail[2] is sending with test at svr1 maybe this overrides
lmtp proxying? This is a test with a special-userdb passwd-file also
having host=svr2
