troule switching winbind to use a new AD 2008
I have been using 2003 AD servers for winbind for many years, and now
2008 is phasing in, but I can't authenticate using the new servers, and
I'm not sure what to do. All advice very welcome.
This is a problem for me on both Gentoo (samba 3.0.33) and Debian Lenny
(samba 3.0.24).
For debugging, I ran winbind interactively and piped output to a file
(winbindd -d 3 -i).
I have also

winbind issue with Windows 2008 R2 - domain trusts
Hello,
I have a problem that just propped up after our windows admin did some
work. He introduced some new domain controllers and upgraded the
domain to 2008 R2. The primary domain that our linux boxes are in
seems to work, it's trusted domains. Here's an example domain:
FOO.BAR.LOCAL
The boxes are in the FOO domain and I can getent passwd and see
accounts in there fine. I used to

Windows 2008 pdc troubles
We are in the process of upgading our windows 2003 pdc's to windows
2008Rr2. No problem there, but our samba/winbind clients are beginning
to show some strange behaviour.
In the beginning we saw a lot of messages appear in the logfiles.
Example :

Hello, all.
Last night, access to our samba server was interrupted, and the only thing I can
find is these repeated over and over again in the messages file:

Error was NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED
Hi,
Does anyone know what this error means?
\NETLOGON fnum 0xc008returned critical error. Error was
NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED
This causes drive mappings to be dropped and is temporarily remedied
by restarting winbind.
I have seen the error referenced in previous posts, but I haven't
seen any responses.
Thanks,

Winbind 3.2.3 error with trusted domains
With Samba on Debian Lenny joined to a Server 2003 Native domain that has two incoming non-transitive trusts (users in my domain can authenticate to the foreign domains, but their users cannot authenticate to us) winbind is taking a very long time to authenticate or list users the first time it is used after starting. Winbind blocks for four to five minutes, and anything that touches winbind will

pipe error
Hi,
When I try to connect to samba server from windows XP machines, I get an err
"No process is on the other end of the pipe" .But some of the users running
windows vista said they are not having any issues on that.
The log.wb log says:

samba 3.5.6 authentication with AD 2008
Hi guys,
I have installed samba with AD authentication. Ntlm_auth is working without any issue with the domain.
But if I connect using my windows pc, to the samba share, it gives following error.
Wbinfo -u / wbinfo -g giving the correct output. And ntlm_auth also working without any issue.
If I try to connect from my windows PC to the samba share it gives following error.

Problem authenticating from standalone servers via Samba 3.0.34 domain member servers to Samba 3.2.5 domain controller
We recently upgraded our PDC from Debian 4 to Debian 5. That entailed
an upgrade of Samba from 3.0.24 to 3.2.5. Since the upgrade we've had
a very specific problem connecting to shares on a commercial NAS
running Samba 3.0.34.
The problem happens when users try to connect to shares from
standalone servers--e.g., Windows XP Pro boxes that we use for
testing. From those boxes users should be

winbindd hangs up while retreiving users
Hello.
I'm installing new FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE, based on intel machine. Firewall
type is OPEN.
I have Windows Server 2000 with Active Directory on it, working in Native
mode.
I've installed samba-3.0.23c_2,1 from /usr/ports/net/samba3
prefix=/usr/local
without krb-1.5.1 being installed.
Added:

Winbind crash on startup with Win 2K3 sp1 domain controller.
Having migrated from NT 4 I am trying to re-install a number of machines
to our New Win 2K3 SP1 Domain.
Most machines are Suse 9.1, running heimdal 0.6.1rc3, samba 3.0.14a
(rpm from samba site).
I can get kinit to work, get net ads join to work (eventually) net ads
testjoin looks ok, and net ads user shows the active directory users.
However winbind crashes at start up.
I have removed and

Question about trusted domain list in samba-4.4.x
Hi list,
This is my domain enviroment and all DC are windows 2008r2
http://i.imgur.com/8cNOtm2.jpeg
When I used samba-4.0.5, I join my box to domain "HC1" , I got trusted
domain "CHILD2" in "wbinfo -m".
[/share/Public] # wbinfo -m
BUILTIN
MYBOX
HC1
CHILD1
TREEROOT
HC2
CHILD2
Then I upgraded my box to samba-4.4.4, I lost CHILD2 in "wbinfo -m".
