Don't understand why "process_node_status_request: "
One of my samba Domain controlers is trying to reach two IP addresses of
192.168.221.1 and 192.168.91.1. The samba server is not even on a 192.168
subnet. It is currnetly on a 172.16.12.x subnet. How can I trace this
down? Why would the server look to access a 192.168 subnet? Can someone
just point me in the right direction?
Thanks for any info

File permission
Hello all,
I think my file permission are completely screwed up? I created a
file called text file called test as root user and have done chgrp on
that file to a group called admin. I have added the users ozzie and
root to that group. I then did a chmod g+wr on the test file and ozzie
can still not write to the file. If I take away read access from the
group, ozzie can still read the

(OT) rfc1948 question
Hi, folks @ freebsd-security.
First, I am not sure if this is apropriate topic for that list, so
sorry, if it is not.
Some time ago I have read rfc1948 (protection from blind TCP spoofing)
and became interested in the way how it is implemented in FreeBSD.
After some googling (BTW if you like Google you might be interested in
this: http://register.spectator.ru/img/bart.gif ), I found this:

compiling vs interpreting
So I thought I'd write this down, in case anyone has useful input to it or
wants to read up on the decisions later.
Currnetly swfdec compiles actions from a flash file into JSScript objects
and executes them using the standard Spidermonkey API. While this allows
all the niceties that are available with SpiderMonkey (most
important: a whole debugging framework with stack inspection etc - see

need wins understanding
Here is my setup.
I have two samba domain controllers on the same subnet. It's a
172.16.12.0 subnet.
First domain "STAFF"
Second domain "PATRONS"
They both have wins enabled and all clients have broadcasting disabled.
Can someone tell me if I will have a problem? If so please give
some kind of example. I am really trying to learn why

Users can't pause or cancel print jobs
Hello all,
I am running Samba 3.0.9 with CUPS 1.1.17. When my windows user try to
pause print jobs it does not work and gives them an error "Error Processing
Command" in Windows. If they try to cancel a print job it doesn't give any
error. It just disappears from the print queue and print anyway.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks all

NFS and Samba
This is a question before i go into production with my setup. Thanks
everyone for the assistance i received while setting up Samba. I am going
to have an AS/400 mount an NFS directory on my linux server and it is going
to be constantly writing to this share. Also about 400 users are going to
be connected to this same share through samba, accessing via windows NT.
Has anyone heard of any issues

invalid user nobody
Hello all,
I am doing some work for a public library that is still running Samba
2.2.7aif you can believe it. When checking the log files I see this
error. I
believe it is generated when the domain administrator is loging off. The
workstation seems to be working fine, I would just like to know why I am
getting this error. If anyone could please point me in the right direction

More then one wins server on a network.
Can some explain to me why its bad to have more then one wins samba wins
server on a subnet. I have two different domains on one subnet and want
to have each domain control be its own wins server.
Thanks again.

Nvidia Driver and CentOS-3
Ok, Well I have narrowed it down to my mother board.
It is a Biostar mother board with an NForce2 chipset.
I have the Nvidia driver working on my home machine
which is and Asus board with an NForce chipset running
CentOS-3 and the Nvidia driver works fine.
It has to be the NForce2 Chipset that is no good. I
have tried updateing bios, Kernel and Xfree. There is
just something with this

CentOS3.3
Hello all,
Just need some info to clarify something.
How is 3.3? By word of mouth I heard that their
may have been some issues with it. However I have not
heard anything here on this forum or any problems with
RHE3 U3. So I am assuming all is well.
Please verify if possible.
Thanks all

Cyber Power 1000AVR LCD issue
I'm currnetly using NUT 2.4.3 to monitor a Cyber Power 1000AVRLCD UPS. I
found the following in the mailing list archive:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2010-March/004673.html
and I want to inform the list that I had to apply the same patch to libhid.c
in order to monitor that UPS.

Postfix on VLANs
Hi All,
I'm having some problems getting postfix to relay mail. I'd
appreciate any tips. Perhaps there are some settings which I may have
missed, somewhere.
The postfix mail server is on VLAN 250 (192.168.250.0) whilst I have
several other users on other VLANs (e.g. 91, 92, 93, etc...
192.168.91.0, 192.168.92.0, 192.168.93.0, etc...).
So, if I had a PC sitting on VLAN 91 with IP

Rails & IIS
There are several sites I''ve found on the web detailing how to setup
IIS with Rails. Unfortunately they all seem to be woefully out of
date. I believe they may all even be pre Rails 1.0.
Can single sign on via Active Directory Services be accomplished
through mod_NTLM for Apache, so users won''t have ot log into the
intranet site after already having logged into their machine?

Up2date troubles
Hello all,
When I go to use up to date, it gets hung up on the
"Process Dialog"
Fetching http://mirror.centos.org/centos/3.1/
addon/i386//headers/header.info
It just stays there and doesn't move. This happens
every time I go to try an update my system.
Anyone else have this problem or is this a know bug?
Thanks
