There are no currently logon servers available when mapping with "net use"
Hi people, I have a problem and I need so much of your help.
I have a login script in \\server1\netlogon\script.bat (on my PDC and BDC)
that runs "net use" commands to map some shares in time of the logon.
This login tries to map share in another server (samba member of domain
\\server2).
So, I put the result at a log and appears these lines:
"
System error 1311 has occurred.

Rename Computer In Samba Domain: Access Is Denied
I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why trying to rename my
computer joined to a Samba domain (version 3.2.3) keeps failing with
"Access is Denied". In searching I found references to people with the
same problem where the answer was to set the "rename user script"
option in smb.conf, but I have done that (not forgetting to restart
Samba) and there is no difference,

Ldapscripts v1.4 is out
Hello all,
And now a small advert ;-)
I'm pleased to announce the v 1.4 of the ldapscripts.
The ldapscripts are shell scripts provided under the terms of the GPL license.
They allow to manage POSIX accounts (users, groups, machines) in an LDAP
directory. They can be used on GNU/Linux and FreeBSD (and any other Unix-like
?). They are similar to the smbldap-tools but are written in sh, not

Can't force Windows users to change password at next login since upgrade to Samba4
I would be VERY grateful for anyone who can find time to offer a tip or
hint!
I upgraded an Ubuntu LTS server (running Samba 3.X) to the latest
version (running Samba 4.1.6) a few months ago and a bothersome issue
persists with forcing Windows users to change their password at the next
login.
This command used to do the trick
net sam set pwdmustchangenow <username> yes

SA_RIGHT_USER_ACCT_FLAGS_EXPIRY, which I am in the process of trying
to find out the semantics of. The source code apparently makes no
reference to it in any way to elucidate its meaning.
At this point I don't have much insight, the involved flags are things such=
as
#define SA_RIGHT_USER_ACCT_FLAGS_EXPIRY 0x00000010
#define SA_RIGHT_USER_SET_ATTRIBUTES 0x00000020

Problem with local profiles and samba
Hello,
I'm new to the list. I subscribed because there is a problem that
most do not get to look around:
Before I'm using roaming profiles with samba and had no problems. But
when activating local profiles (I did it puting the directives "logon
path", "logon home" and "logon drive" blank) passwords and part of the
configuration is not saved in some

temporary profiles problem - don't want roaming profiles
I have a Samba PDC (Ubuntu 12, OpenLDAP 2.4.28, Samba 3.6.3), and at two
remote sites, I have some Samba BDCs.
For now I've manually entered the DCs as WINS servers on the workstations
I'm using for testing. At the remote sites, I can log in with an account
that has no logon path or logon home specified, and it works perfectly.
But at the main site, when I try to log on to one of these

Update from pdbsql (MySQL) to LDAP
Hi All!
I have a Samba as PDC for my domain MY_NETWORK running normally.
What I want to do is to install another server with OpenLDAP as
backend, and migrate the users and the domain to it.
Can anyone point me how to do it?
Below is my configuration.

default profile
Hi,
I installed a SaMBa PDC and a BDC. When I log in to an XP client with a new
user, sometimes I get the initial profile settings from the netlogon share,
but often from local. When I get the local default settings, it is not
syncronized to the server at logout. Even if I get the new profile from the
server, on the same client, next time, with a new user, I get the new
profile from local. I

wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK
Hi,
I'm trying to get some Ubuntu8.04 clients to authenticate to an Ubuntu8.04 Samba domain controller. Everyone is running Samba 3.0.28a.
Side question: should I upgrade to 3.2? Keep in mind that means finding binaries for ubuntu or compiling from source for a server and 20 clients.
Basically wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK.
My domain is called

Hi,
Hope can someone give insights or what to do next, regarding with issue
encountered regarding with the upgrade of Samba3 to Samba4 NT4-style
domain with OpenLDAP backend.
It seems the upgrade went well as I could join the domain on the Windows 7
workstations, except adding still the registry mentioned on the link:

i recently replaced (1st of january) our old samba server
(debian+samba3.0.14a) to a new one (debian squeeze+samba3.5.6).
