A part that even after trying for a few days, I am still stuck on. I am offering ?50, just to say thanks. Regards -- View this message in context:

Package documentation in dissertation
Hey Everyone, I wrote up a library for my dissertation work, and I'd love to include it as an appendix. I have found ways to export the Rd files as html, txt and pdf/ps, but not a raw tex export. I've had to resort to dumping it into text files, and just using verbatim in my LaTeX code. Does anybody have any recommendations or experiences with dealing with this? Please CC me on

Sweave line length
Hello, I am trying to add R code to my dissertation and the length of a line of text that Sweave generates is longer than the right margin in my dissertation. I have found no way to tell Sweave how to set the line length. I am using an iMac with tiger ver. 10.4.10, and R: ver. 2.5.1. Here is the R code that is longer than my right margin: input to Sweave:

server exercising, stressing, and/or testing
greetings would someone please point me to an excellent server exercising, stressing, and/or testing program that will run on centos 4? i want one that will not out and out destroy a machine so to speak... ...meaning testing is one thing, yet pounding a box in the hard drive department over and above the cause or unnecessarily does not appeal to me. fyi the box i want to test/stress this time

Unable to load Models which reference plugins?
I''m using a plugin which adds a method to ActiveRecord::Base http://similetimelinerailshelper.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/simile_timeline/ This adds an "acts_as" type declaration to the Models, via the file in vendor/plugins/simile_timeline/lib/simile_timeline.rb Rails is working with these declarations, and they are being used successfully in ''regular

Enabling statistics in release builds / static constructors
I don't agree with an ideological "burn and remove all the globals" stance. For one thing that means heavy rewriting (we would need to move all the Statistic variable into classes somewhere, pass around way more contexts). I am NOT volunteering for that part of work. - Matthias > On Dec 13, 2016, at 3:34 PM, Chris Bieneman <beanz at apple.com> wrote: > > The

Overdispersion in a GLM binomial model
Hello, The share of concurring votes (i.e. yes-yes and no-no) in total votes between a pair of voters is a function of their ideological distance (index continuous on [1,2]). I show by other means that the votes typically are highly positively correlated (with an average c=0.6). This is because voters sit together and discuss the issue before taking a vote, but also because they share common

Enabling statistics in release builds / static constructors
I don’t believe it is any more work (except the registry infrastructure) to do than you strawman proposal. > On Dec 13, 2016, at 3:36 PM, Matthias Braun <mbraun at apple.com> wrote: > > I don't agree with an ideological "burn and remove all the globals" stance. I''m getting this error thats moaning about expected tag, but no tag found matching {:content=>"User James Apps was successfully created.", :attributes=>{:id=>"notice"}, :tag=>"div"} in the file application.rb. Enabling statistics in release builds / static constructors
But it is more work: My strawman proposal only needs a very mechanical change of adding one xxx.init(); line for each global. Putting the variables into context classes is more involved: You have to actually decide on the appropriate context class for each of them and you will face lots of small helper functions outside of classes that simply have no appropriate context at hand. - Matthias >

Enabling statistics in release builds / static constructors
Well for one you’re snippet includes a `static void init_globals() {` which definitely can be “static” and it is quite unclear to me how you’re gonna trigger the registration for it. > On Dec 13, 2016, at 3:43 PM, Matthias Braun <mbraun at apple.com> wrote: > > But it is more work: My strawman proposal only needs a very mechanical change of adding one xxx.init(); line for each

OT: "The Ignorance of Crowds" (was: OT Slightly: )
I see what Dean means about how Digium/Asterisk might have struck a balance between "the cathedral and the bazaar" antipodes of the SW development world. Nicholas Carr's "The Ignorance of Crowds" finally states his "politics" when it says "When you move from the bazaar to the cathedral, it?s best to leave your democratic ideals behind." But treating
