Windows File Permissions
Greetings,
I just have a couple of questions. One is related to Samba specifically the second deals with Windows Networking, RSYNC, and Linux in general. I have asked it in the RSYNC mailing list, but so far no one has provided any insight.
I apologize if anyone has gone over this information. I have been unable to find much help in the mailing list archives, IRC, or the documentation.

TrueType-font (codeweavers)
Hi,
I'm using a special middle-high-german truetype-font, which is using the
characters 128-159. But Linux/unix is using this part of the font for a
copy of the special-characters 0-32.
Is there any possibility to get access to this character-range in wine, or
in Linux itself?

kickstart problems...
Hi,
I am creating CentOS install usb keys and, apart from a few problems, it mostly works...
1. OT: My server HP does not seem to want to boot on it if I set the write protection on.
2. Anaconda tries to fetch the ks.cfg too early... It detects sda, then detects the
RAID adapter, then re-detects sda with a "waiting for device to settle before scanning".
Anaconda tries to access

smbclient from linux to Win2k3 server AD share
We are trying to mount a dfs share on a Redhat 9 machine that's served
from our W2K3 AD server. We've been banging our heads against this for
quite a while, so I thought it time to run up the white flag and ask
here. We've been trying variations of this:
# mount -t smbfs -o
username=OURDOMAIN\administrator,password=adminpasswd //servername/dfs
/mnt/dfs
and we've been getting

Samba 3.0.2 an Win2k3 AD DC
I try to integrate a Samba/CUPS Printserver into Windows 2003 Active
Directory. First it works fine. I could join the domain, the users could
print an access the print shares.
But after a couple of hours (10-12 I think) I get errors about invalid
credentials. I think Samba didn't renew the Kerberos Tickets.
Used Software
SuSE 9.0, Samba 3.0.2a, heimdal 0.6
Thanks for any help

Winbind not looking in correct Win2k3 SBS User container
Hi,
We've recently upgraded a network from Win2k to 2k3 SBS. We were using
samba with security = domain (which I believe stopped working - I was on
vacation at the time the upgrade was done) and are now using security =
ads.
We're using samba-3.0.23b-0.1.35 on SuSE Enterprise Linux Server 9 SP3
x86_64
The samba machine has been sucessfully joined to the domain with:

can two samba servers share uid/rid map in win2k3 domain
Hi all,
I've been battling this for weeks.
I have one samba server joined to our windows 2k3 domain that is
happily using Active Directory for authenication via Winbind and
kerberos. Ok great, but now I want to have two Samba boxs on the
domain with consistant uid/rid mapping between.
My question essentialy is can two samba servers use share a common
uid/rid idmap when joined to a Windows

SuSE 10.2 in a Win2k3 domain - odd lockout issue
I have a SuSE 10.2 machine that I have successfully
added to our Win2k3 domain. I can log in
successfully, and the DC logs show successful
authentication. I can see shares and everything seems
to be just fine.
The problem is, approx. every 24 hours, the DC will
mysteriously lock my user ID, and I will have to get
an admin to go in and unlock me. The DC is not
showing anything like three

Problem installing Win2k3 in domU
I''m trying to install Win2k3 server in a domU. dom0 is running on CentOS
5.3 and xen version is xen-3.0.3-80. I can create the new server with
virt manager, win2k3 starts to install (goes through the blue back
ground part of the installation, but when it reboots I get "A disk read
error occurred".
Any ideas?
Also, are there any yum repos where I can get a newer version of

Re: Migrate Win2k3 to KVM
- What format is the image is?
- Can you post an XML file of the VM config?
Changing the driver to VirtIO via registry edits may exacerbate the
problem. I've never done this but wouldn't it make sense to stick to the
more supported IDE drive emulation until you get it booted and thus remove
possible variables of it not booting?
Are you able to boot the image any other way?

The error message "No system disk" means the disk is booting from a KVM
perspective so no.

Basically, what's required is the "STOP:" line + the image where it
fails (so, the line below). Image being likely to be NTOSKRNL.EXE

Migrate Win2k3 to KVM
Hi,
I made a disk image with CloneZilla from the original physical machine.
That image was restored on an iSCSI volume.
It isn't booting. I got BSOD.
I tried IDE, SATA, SCSI disk type without any success.
I tried to using virtio driver and if I use my image+W2k3 install CD+virtio
VFD the Windows repair console see the disk and I can use the repair
console with my image but the windows not
