password less share not accessible with Win 2012 R2
Hi! We have a Samba 4.2.11 running with some browsable and passwordless shares (among others). Various Clients work fine (Windows Server 2008 R2, Konqueror Version 4.13.3), but Windows 2012 R2 asks for a password, when typing \\samba.our-domain.de\ in the adress bar. I tried various settings google gave me, right now the config for the share looks like: [test] path = /var/tmp

Using other automount maps
Environment: HP-UX 10.20 Samba 1.9.18p10 ; compiled with -DAUTOMOUNT option. We are using our samba server to mount various automounted directories including user's home. auto.home map takes care of mounting user's home automagically but for other directories, I have to put a share name for each of them (and there are hundreds of them). Is it possible to define one share name (like

How to glue com32 module in grub2 ?
Hello Erwan and others, I am running HDT from grub2 with memdisk. I have informed the success of booting hdt to the grub2 list. Some developers are very much interested to this issue and they are showing their interest to make a glue between com32 and grub2 so that hdt can be loaded without memdisk. It is really very exciting to have hdt as an inbuilt feature of grub2. Could any one kindly

systemd automount of cifs share hangs
*** This response is my personal opinion and may not reflect that of my employer. *** I have never used the .automount file.... I have the .mount file configured for various SAMBA shares, and I simply issued "systemctl enable share-x-y-z.mount" to get them to mount on boot. systemd automount of cifs share hangs
Running latest CentOS 7.5. Since I found out about automount unit files I've had mixed results using them to mount shares from my NAS. Lately they seem to hang if I touch the mount point, but I can start the mount unit without problems. I had it working months ago, so I'm thinking something changed in the systemd updates. For each mount point, I have two files in /etc/systemd/system

Samba share and --ghost'ed automount hierarchy
Howdy folks - I have an automount hierarchy "/data", with 30 or so mounts defined across various hosts on my network. A few of these mountpoints are temporarily off-line, but still appear under /data, due to the --ghost option. When I try to access the top level \\server\data from a Windows client, the directory listing in Explorer never returns because smbd is trying to stat

I have very large samba installations running off Solaris 10u11 - very stable - and AD integrated with the OS. Running Samba 3.6.24 on Solaris 10u11 x86 Server A?? hosts logs files and can nfs mount other servers to consume their logs via the automount /net path. Users want to read the

smbclient thinks passwordless account is anonymous
I want to use a passwordless account on my windows box to connect to from my linux box. When I do a smbclient "" -L host -U name, smbclient always prints "Anonymous login successful" even though I supplied a username. If I supply a password on the command line instead, then I don't get the Anonymous login message. Neither way works since the account actually

Passwordless ssh
On Mac OS, in order to allow ssh using dsa keys, I would copy ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub from my machine into ~/.ssh/authorized_keys of the target machine. I've created .ssh directories in my account home as well as in /root and copied the respective keys to authorized_keys files in each. Strangely, I can now ssh as root with no password but my own user account still prompts for a password. What
