changing kickoff time
Hello everybody,
we moved our samba server to a new machine. This included changing the
samba version from 3.024 to 3.4.2 and changing the OS from Linux to
Opensolaris.
Samba was compiled from scratch. Passdb Backend is tdb.
After the upgrade everything works fine......except:
Some users can not login, due to an expired account.
Further investigation showed that the "Kickoff Time"

sample
Hi,
I am sampling two random columns from females and two random columns
from males to produce tetraploid offspring. For every female I am
sampling a random male.
In the end I want to write out a a matrix with all the offspring, but
that does not work. I get always only the offspring from the last
females. There must be a mistake in my script:

Vectorizing sample()
I am simulating sickness among a group of families. Part of the task is
to randomly draw who in the family will be sick, randomly drawing from
family ID's where Dad =1, Mom = 2, Kid1 = 3, Kid2 = 4., etc. My census of
Dads is of the form shown below.

Ongoing Samba Errors
Greetings
We just updated two RH9 servers to 3.0.14a-1 and are still seeing a lot
of errors in the logs.
They're not stopping us working but I would _really_ like to understand
what is causing them.
On the first server, in the logwatch, we get a whole swag of:
samba:

Fwd: Read a Number column with leading zeros using Roo gem
Hi all,
I am trying to open and read a xlsx file, which I have attached. The
upc column in that file, is the one I''m talking about. If I open the
file in the Open Office Spreadsheet, it is correctly displaying with
leading zeros. But if I read it with Roo gem it truncates the leading
zeros. I understand this is the expected behavior since the column
type is Number. But how is Open Office

Roo gem performance problems
I am getting unacceptable performace problems by using the roo gem for
reading a file by using XLSX or XLS library from this gem.
Someone may suggest me an alternative about how to parse an .XLSX file?

== "XLS")

I am trying to set up rsync as a daemon under WindowsXP (professional) in
order to be able to backup this machine on to a linux server. I am
struggling with an issue I don't understand. I don't know whether it is an
Rsync issue or a Cygwin issue, so I am asking both mailing lists.

not loading and 98 machines reported strange errors, shares aren't
mapping, people can't print....it's a nightmare over here....
this seems to affect all versions of windows regardless of SP's.

is there any way to convert .xlsx to .xls
Hello Guys, does anybody know if there''s anyway to upload a .xlsx file and
then convert it to .xls file for later processing?
i''d like to use spreadsheet to write a new xls file but it doesn''t support
xlsx and the file is only importable with that format sadly.
I saw roo but I don''t know if there''s a direct way to do it.

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes
he can map it, sometimes he can't.
SAMBA: 3.0-alpha18
UNIX: HP-UX 11.0
rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to
(entry in /etc/passwd, decent permissions on home directory and
all parent directories, etc.)
The strange thing is sometimes it works, and sometimes it
doesn't. If it doesn't
