Remove default homeshare
Hi I'm running a samba-server as fileserver on a Windows 2003 PDC. The users are create on the WinServer, and the homefolders are defined in the AD and stored on the sambaserver //server/homes/%user%. But samba still creates the default share with the same name as the user. How di I disable that. I have # everything that's named something like home and etc.. /Lars

Homedir maps (+small patch)
Hello, I have following setup: User homedir are on server B and I have samba running on server A and B (B is dec/osf1, A is HPUX). In Luke's reply to "Spiros B" (tue 12 aug 97) he said: > because (and this is the bit about the home.map support that i don't > exactly understand, and don't quite follow) when you do a domain logon > to server A, the home.map support

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes he can map it, sometimes he can't. SAMBA: 3.0-alpha18 UNIX: HP-UX 11.0 rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to (entry in /etc/passwd, decent permissions on home directory and all parent directories, etc.) The strange thing is sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't

Debugging samba/winbind SMB share
Hi, I had an active-directory authentication based samba system up and running, working well. However, I tried to access an SMB share on the server a few days back and just get a windows login user/password prompt. I'm trying to debug why theres a "system error". PAM is configured for pam_winbind.so in /etc/pam.d/system-auth, and I can ssh into the system using a domain

Fileshares failing
Hi, I used to have a set of samba shares working fine on a Centos 4 machine, accessed by XP clients and authenticated against a 2003 SBS server. Then I did a yum upgrade and a week later noticed that the seldom-used SMB shares have stopped working. No other changes to the Centos server, and no domain changes. The XP clients now just keep prompting for authentication. A wireshark trap shows

Encrypted logon funny
I do not understand the following output. The actual command and error are: juliet:/mnt # smbmount //compaq/mastertools /mnt/dos -o username=alan password=eunice Password: 10300: tree connect failed: ERRSRV - ERRbadpw (Bad password - name/password pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.) cannot mount home directory
I don't know what information would be helpful. I will give some but also try not to waste bits. I am using LDAP. My username is 'davt01'. I am able to login to my samba pdc just fine. I get these logs when I try to access //server/foobar. Also see below for some relevant configs: [2004/01/28 15:14:37, 3] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(265) check_ntlm_password: sam

Samba 3.0 question, DOMAIN vs. SERVER method? Help!
Hello all! We are attempting to get Samba-3.0.10 working on a new Solaris 8 machine in preparation for upgrading an existing 2.2.8 installation (both use the SMCsamba packages from SunFreeware.com). We copied over the smb.conf file and the usermap from the Samba-2 installation, and seeing some weird symptoms when Windows users try to connect to the new machine. We ran "net join" to

login on homes share despite available = no
Hi! Today I found that a user can successfully login on a homes share despite that share should be disabled. To quote smb.conf(1): available (S) This parameter lets you "turn off" a service. If avail- able = no, then ALL attempts to connect to the service will fail. Such failures are logged. However, see the following: % walter@qdevel2:/home/walter> smbclient
