wpkg for Samba
Hello List, This is very much so Samba related but I'm sure there are several people here this would relate to. wpkg is a nice add on to Samba that allows you to mass install Windows software to Windows clients machines as they log onto a Samba server. Today's offerings. I have made a simple binary rpm that installs all of the needed files for both server and client. Thought this may

How to rsync only directories, no files inside ?
Hi. I need to create a lot of directories, just the same with remote's /var, but I only need the directories, the files inside those sub-directories in /var/ are not necessary for me. I know "find+cp" can do, but I would like to use the archive mode, i.e. I need the original permision, owner, group... Can I make it using rsync ? If so, please tell me how. Thank you in advance. --

R integration with Microsoft Powerpoint
Please allow me an unusual question. Is there any way that R can be closely integrated with a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation? I would like to embed R calculations in Powerpoint so that I will start Powerpoint, be prompted to enter some parameters, and an R function will run and return values and graphs. How to prevent creation of unwanted user home directories with samba and winbind........
Hi all, We're using NT4.0 server as a PDC. I can easily logon the domain on Mandrake 10.1 with samba and winbind. There is no problem with domain logons. All we want is to create domain user home directory when the user logon the computer locally. But sometimes some domain user home directories are created at /home/NTDOMAIN directory automatically even if they didn't logon the computer

Winbind Authentication on Redhat & Home Directories
Hi all, I have Winbind authentication up and running properly (thanks to new, easy to use features of Redhat Ent 4). My question is this. I know that I can, by massaging /etc/pam.d files manually, have Winbind/Samba automatically create a home directory for each user that logs in, but I am wondering if Samba/Winbind can instead map to their home directory as defined in their Windows profile

winbind: auto create home directories
Hi, I'm running samba 3.0.2a as a windows domain MEMBER, security=ADS. Just installed winbind last week it it looks great. I noticed that it is possible to set a homedir_template for winbind; however winbind has no option to create this directory on the fly (and populate it with .profile etc). I found the code for pam_mkhomedir to have pam session create the homedirectory when a session

Hello all, I've installed samba-3.0.1 on a linux machine that has a role of domainmember in an NT domain. But I want to create a share for each user on the NT domain. I have in my smb.conf a [homes] share, but when a
