ACL problem under FC9
Hi list,
This is my first post and I hope I will not make people mad as this may
have been answered before.
Here it goes.
I am running Samba for some years now (3 years) and had absolutely no
problems. For the last month on one of the machines the NT ACL stopped
working and everyone have full access everywhere even if they are not in
the acl.
If I try to add them and restrict them only to read

Samba with ldap-Backend as PDC: Changing SMB-Password under Unix?
Hello,
I have a working PDC with ldap-Backend under SUSE 10.2. Everything is
working fine, except 2 thing:
Can I change the sambaNTpassword and sambaLMpassword under Unix so that the
User can change the samba-Passwords and the Unix-Password with one single
command?
Can I automaticly connect the Home-Networkshare to a Network-Drive? Without
a Logon-Script?
Regards
Daniel

integration with existing ldap directory
I'm having trouble wading through the various documents that only
partially apply to my situation.
I have an exsting LDAP instance providing NSS login data to my small
group of linux machines. I want to also now provide domain logins
against those user accounts.
So far I have determined that I need to
1. add the samba schema to the directory
2. set the attribute access appropriately
3. add

Controlling network printer
Hi everyone!
I'm trying to install a network printer (HP 2600n) in my primary domain
controller(samba+ldap), and control the printer, create a list of users able
to print and deny the others, etc.
I've been searching about in Internet, but didn't find anything good to
learn.
Somebody could tell me if is it possible and where can I find some good
material to study and do this using

Understanding ldap auth credentials
I'm try to create a single sign on configuration for a home

Binary Packages SuSE9.0 != SLES9
Hi
I need to install a current version of samba on a server running
SuSE9.0 :-/
My Idea was to use the binary package provided at samba.org for SLES9
but I do not have the exact libraries that are needed:
libtalloc.so.1 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140
libtdb.so.1 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140
libwbclient.so.0 is needed by samba-3.2.8-2.1.140
-> these are also

Postfix mail server procedure
CentOS Community,
I was wondering if anyone had a good resource or procedure for a step by
step in installing a mail server with Centos. There ARE documents on
google, however almost all that i've found were outdated from 2005. Does
anyone know where I can find this type of document for a mailserver
Postfix + MySQL + SpamAssassin + ClamAV + Squirrelmail + Postfixadmin, etc?

ssh trouble checklist
Hi.
There should be a checklist of everything that can go wrong with
making an ssh connection.
Here's one entry for the list, which I didn't know before, and
* I couldn't see the problem from the -ddd and -vvv output, and
* there were no /var/log/* file entries to give hints.
Here's what I did
sudo kill <pid-of-sshd>
/usr/sbin/sshd
No good.
Usually I did kill

ssh as root with and without private key
Hi.
I have a client machine using ssh as root via key authorization to a
server. The client uses rsync to send backup data to the server. I
use ForceCommand to allow only this activity when using key
authorization.
But I also want to be able to ssh as root with a required password to
do whatever I like.
So I thought that in addition to root, I'd make a rootback account:

setting current dir of remote shell
I have a command that will upload stuff from the current dir within a
local copy of a web site to the corresponding dir on the web server.
http://Yost.com/computers/yostupload
The command has a -l argument that will log you in to the server via
ssh. So far so good.
But I would like this -l argument to set the current dir on the
remote host so it is the dir corresponding to the current dir on
